    Am I the only one who is over Oprah?


    When Palin was first named to the GOP ticket Oprah was all "Yeaaaaaaaah, maybe I'll have you on later." Like her or not, on paper Palin is a lot of things that Oprah would normally be all over: Female Governor, mother to a handicapped child, Female VP candidate, work/life balance...the list could go on. It kind of seems like Palin gave her some reverse snubbery.


    Then again, I might be a little bitter that my reservation was totally overtaken by Oprah when her and crew showed up at the same resturant last summer here in Chicago.

    Just because Coldplay didn't consciously plagarize Joe Satriani doesn't mean that there isn't a basis for the lawsuit. It does mean, however, that they need to do the right thing instead of going on the defensive. For example, when Mick Jagger was presented with aural evidence (by reporters) that his latest song had taken the hook from k.d. lang's "Constant Craving", he immediately gave her a songwriting credit instead of being defensive. (He wasn't trying to copy her, but it was undeniably the same lick.) The smart thing to do was to do what NPR did yesterday, and play both songs. Whether "Viva la vida" was copied or merely "inspired", it still sounds the same.

    @Miss Smith Drank Your Vodka: hmm, I saw some of her interview on Extra and I'm thinking she was mostly saying that she really doesn't want to get married again, with the ending being a kind of "unless you wind up with someone who really wants to, then you compromise and do it."


    Of course I find her utterly adorable so I was probably just wooed by her cute smile.

    @Miss Smith Drank Your Vodka: It's possible she means that her eventual life partner's take on marriage will be the deciding factor. And it makes sense when you consider that she was raised by one of the longest-lasting Hollywood couples who happen not to be married. Having a marriage certificate in hand may be low on her list of relationship priorities.

    Also, nobody has to tell me anything about being on Oprah. If there was a bus full of kids that needed saving and Oprah's people asked me to appear about 10 minutes before, I'd drop everything, including that bus full of kids (SPIDEY'LL SAVE THEM, I TELL YA!) even if I was on for like 6 minutes and talked about toe jam or my favorite Mariah Carey song (which is "I Don't Wanna Cry" just, FYI).
