Ok, deep breath, I have to ask something controversial (maybe) but I hope it's not, since this isn't coming from a place of judgement, but why why why do gay men design for women?! Poor Malvin and his egg thing, he looked like vomit explaining this to Tim. Now, I know it's a cliché and being a gay man doesn't equal woman-hating, but, for reals, how uncomfortable did he and big-shorts designer look? Like they were completely freaked out. Which they were. So...why?! Is it because there's more money in women's fashion? Ohhhh. Duh. Poor things. Forced to contemplate ooogy icky stuff like bellies on a woman. As if we weren't already shamed about ourselves. Uh, thanks. OK, the whole segment creeped me out.

@OneTwoPunch: I thought it was interesting that the top 3 were all women, and the bottom 3 were all men. It just seemed like the women were more mindful of the whole pregnancy process and its difficulties.

I'm glad they sent insufferable Malvin home. There are ways to convey fertility without a farm animal. It's kind of insulting. Shirin's dress and coat were fantastic and actually addressed the needs of a woman with an expanding form, unlike Althea's navy dress(which was lovely in itself)

at least the whole egg thing had an actual concept. what with the feathers on the tank top. but those shorts?! hell, i know slender non pregnant women who wouldn't wear those shorts in a million years.

also, as pretty as louise's dress was (loved the layering effect on the bottom) it was a nightie and needed to be longer with a scalloped hem or something.

Mitchell was complaining that he just didn't know how to put in a maternity band, but I was like seriously? You've never seen Juno? Even I remember seeing stepmom sew an elastic band into a NORMAL PAIR OF PANTS.

As in, Mitchell, I get that you don't really understand a preggers body, but you do see your model form, right? Normal shorts. Plus elastic band. The preggers lady's legs will not be 10x their normal size.

Padding models' tummies and not padding their boobs made for a very surreal runway.

Rebecca Romin was as beautiful as ever, but she looked really tired and uncomfortable through the whole thing.

I felt for her - those fetii will suck your energy AND make you puffy. And twins! Yikes.

Come to think of it, it was kind of inspiring to see a beautiful celebrity who is pregnant and doesnt' look like a model with a pillow bolted on the front. Not everyone looks like Heidi when they are preggers (god love her). Not even supermodels.

I actually kinda love Malvin's top - it was really beautiful and softly designed, and I liked the way it was gathered at the back. If I saw a pregnant woman wearing it, I'd think it was awesome. Perhaps a little too far with the feathers though, and maybe less of the "sling" effect. Overall I really wish they'd kept Malvin and booted Mitchell.

@paisleylady: I was shocked that they kept Mitchell. Malvin's concept was a little weird, but his outfit was really well-made. On the other hand, Mitchell's was a mess. I think that poorly executing something is much worse than coming up with an idea too strange.

I'm hoping that he doesn't get to keep sailing by in the bottom three, he really seems to suck.

I hate when Michael Kors is not there. My sister and I kept thinking of funny things he would say during the judging. It feels like it's not a complete episode without him.

I want to know - is there anyone who saw Hook as a kid, and because of that and Malvin's insane hipster floppy mohawk hairdo (with braid) kept thinking "Ru-Fi-Ooooo!" whenever he was on the screen? Because I want to know if I'm the only one...

Malvin's Egg was pretty bad, if only because it was too unwearable for what they were looking for, but it would have been interesting to see his work in other challenges. Mitchell has come through with two half-ass outfits, two weeks in a row. It's only a matter of time. I don't know why they didn't just kick him off and give Malvin another shot.

And I have a feeling Louise is going to make a 20s burlesque outfit for every single competition.

"i guess i'm too conceptual for America" is what I am going to say anytime I get criticized for anything. Right now my mailbox has managed to come off from the post and needs to be fixed, but I'm not going to fix it. It's conceptual.
