    I thought hard times brought a baby boom? I just read an artcle (in either the NY or LA Times) about an unprecedented baby boom at Fort Bragg. And an obstetrician friend says she has never been busier; She says women have babies in tough economic times because there are fewer good jobs and babies are a wonderful thing that they can have when they cannot buy anything. This should be something that can be settled with one of your obvious-science studies -- it is hard to hide babies!

    @maggiemom: I kind of took that the Fort Bragg baby boom was more the result of finally ending years of on again/off again long term separation when soldiers are overseas. Any plans to start a family or continue having children would have been put on hold. That, combined with some good ol' "I've missed you" lovin' = babies!

    Am I the only one legitimately confused by this connection? Does it mean that they are dissatisfied with their treatment because they don't communicate with the doctor as effectively?

    @badmutha: I want to eat something that will allow me to float and take years off my face! I'm hanging in there waiting for the 'eat you ass off' diet that has you literally stuffing your face with goodies all day and losing 5 lbs each week, on the average.

    Why am I not surprised that the 'oldest identifiable family' was determined to have met 'violent deaths'? Because I just got off the phone after talking to my mother... another epic conversation which culminated in me calling her a bigot. Which she is. She has the capacity to me one of the most narrow-minded people I've ever met.


    Our telephone system: providing a way for families to communicate at a distance, thus reducing the chances of them killing each other, for over 100 years.

    Scores was notorious for screwing over dancers. Good for them!


    A lot of people are stunned to find out dancers had to pay at least $400-$600 PER SHIFT in fees just to work there. Everyone had their hand out.


    This doesn't include the money you had to "tip" the VIP hosts (the goons who run the Champagne Rooms), otherwise you'd be barred access to them and the $500+ an hour they could bring.

    Diamond Dollars are Scores "funny money". They're printed, in-house bills and legal, within Scores only of course. Sort of like house legal tender.


    A client could buy them for an inflated rate (I believe they charged a 10% surcharge on top) and the dancers lost 10% of the value when they cashed them in.


    Which of course means the club owners made out great from their sale by fucking over both customer and dancer alike.

    @HitOrMs:Whenever I hear of lawsuits against restaurants, clubs and the like in NYC I just shake my head.
    The amount of fuckery going on in NYC is amazing. I worked in nightclubs and bars for 5 years. The last club I quit was becuase the manager of the club was trying to extort $800 out of me to "cover" a table who's credit card was charged but they didn't sign the actual slip. They were going to keep the $$ and give it to me 3 months later if the chargeback didn't happen.
    I told him to go fuck himself and he told me I wouldn't be on the schedule.
    Ah, New York.
