I was TOTALLY square when I was growing up. I made up for it by going slightly out of my mind in my 20's. Just turned 30, and I am SOOO happy to be leaving the insecurity and irresponsibility behind. :D

Anyone around?

I was stuck at home, locked out of my commenting ability, laughing my ass off and joining in on your dance party. This site has educated me on so many different levels this past year. I live in the midwest, in a conservative area. I got pregnant at 16, and was just expected to 'deal' with it. My plan for as long as I can remember was to graduate, and get the hell out of here. Abortion was never an option. My beautiful daughter turns 13 in 2009, and BELIEVE me, SHE will be taught all of the things that I've learned from you bishes.

I'd like to thank the editors for the Photoshop of Horrors stories. These will help me to show my daughter what a body is SUPPOSED TO look like, and will help to teach her that she is beautiful already.

I am also proud of me. The way that I was raised, I would never have the courage to do things that she does. I vowed that my babeh would have all of the self-confidence that I lacked. It appears I am doing something right, because she shines. (sniff)

Love you bishes. Thank you for opening my eyes to all of the bullshit in this world, so that I can do an even better job raising my child.

I have a similar wish for my son - I grew up so, so sheltered, I was scared to do anything my parents didn't approve of until I was a junior in college (and even then it wasn't particularly rebellious). I want him to be braver and more adventurous than I was.

@ellaesther: Thank you! I've been a semi-regular poster here since early 2008, and a lurker since July/August of 2007.

This site has changed my view of the world. Unfortunately, the area that I live in, I am hard pressed to find people that challenge me to think. Usually I have to dumb myself down when talking to most of my friends. Horrible, I know, but, it makes me REALLY appreciate my JezFriends.

@Gretchen: Former Colorguard checking in!

My first year our band won 1st in State for (Michigan, Flight II). My second year, we won 3rd in state, but we also got the award for best Colorguard in state.

Since that first year, my alma mater has earned 6 additional 'Best in State' trophies, and they have gone on to start competeing at the national level, and placing well (I think).

Even on days that you want to kill them ,know that you are making memories that will last your students forever. ;-)

I have noticed that I have been approved as a commenter. Way to start 2009. I assume that means that I am interesting and witty, but my momma taught me never to assume. Too bad I never listen to her.

Reading posts on this sight is what gives me hope. To see that there are intelligent women scattered all over the world, sitting on their computers and making up puns that make my head spin.
