I so, so would have bought this 10 years ago, when my fashion style was best described as Back To The Future Part II and my favorite store was 8th Street Lab in NYC (anybody remember them)

    And there's Glow Fur - www.glowfur.com

I actually met the guy who makes it -- because he was wearing one of his long faux-fur light up coats and he was hard to miss. It's pretty amazing. I mean, a glowing fur purse, what occasion is that NOT good for? (this is not a spam, I'm not marketing for them, just what came to mind . . . )

I had no idea glowing clothing was so diverse.

Unfortunately, this shit would make you the most popular clubber ever in semi-rural middle to southern France. I'm there quite a lot over summer months and people really do wear this kind of thing in 'les discoteques'.

"Oh, Pocahaunted are you going to Le Disco tonight, to listen to banging mid-90s house, nu-metal and strange French disco, whilst experiencing the bad touching by middle aged Algerian men?"

"Alas, non, my dear cousin, I'd rather stay inside and get bitten to death by mutant bugs because you seem to have forgotten to invent insect screens".

"the late nineties and early oughts was not a period characterized by a high level of taste." = not a very fair statement.

Fashion is super-personal and I love 90's style in all its various manifestations.

    Whether it's early 90's style:

    or mid-90s style:

    it's pretty awesome.

@happysquid: That last one must be a revival, because I distinctly remembering selling those owl backpacks when I worked at Target 2 years ago.

And I too still love 90's style. Baby t-shirts and huge jeans are something I still wear on the daily.

Oh, and baby ts and huge jeans just happen to look better on my body type (pear shape-y) than modern clothes (tight skinny jeans). Plus they are just boss. and comfortable.

@happysquid: Exactly. I don't think there's ever been a less flattering set of styles available for the pear shape than the stuff available now. Leggings and shapelessly-waisted dresses? Weird strappy flats? Ultra-tight skinny jeans?

'Scuse me while I go look for 'vintage' Jncos on eBay...

@Cafezinha: Target was selling those backpacks two years ago? Why had I not noticed! Let me guess, they were in the "children's" section.

90's style FTW, ladies. I loved it when I could go to class wearing a band tee shirt, a coordinating flannel, wide-leg jeans and Vans (or Docs). And my mom was happy because I was well-covered.

I support bringing back baby tees and JNCOs!

Oh God. I am so ashamed to say this, but I will anyway. In my drug-addled clubgoing days, I SO would have bought this shit. As it were, though, I made enough fashion horror shows on my own with crap from my own closet. Including hats- the better, I thought, to disguise my gigantic pupils.

    Sometimes I still miss Ecstasy.

    @bananaballs: I'm hearting you for that! I'm a long time retired-raver and a recently retired jungle/dnb dj.

I had to stop djing because I would see these young kids dancing like drugged up imbeciles while I played, and I would just want to call their moms to tell on them.
