I would LOVE a travel special (or series!) featuring Tim Gunn.

I need to read this interview - I wonder if he strolled along to the Tar Pits after the museum. A lame tourist spot to most, but seriously my favorite part of LA. It's the most bizarre site- huge pits of bubbling tar right off of Wilshire- who could ask for anything more??

It has all of the exoticism that one naturally associates with South Asia, yet its 150 years of British reign have left it with a Western flavor of infrastructure. That means that for the visitor it's a user-friendly environment.
I;ve never been to Asia, so maybe I'm not getting something...if Hong Kong were never colonized then it would just be chaos and unnavegable to the average Westerner? Thailand was never colonized and it boasts a significant tourism industry...I iz confused...

And the Conrad in HK? That place is heaven on earth.

My mom insists on pronouncing Ralphs like "Rafe's" as in Ralph Fiennes. It does have an elegance to it.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who imagines this sort of bizarre scenario!

Also, I'm sure Tim Gunn probably wouldn't wrinkle his fabulous wardrobe in this way, but L.A. has the best parks and hiking trails evah. Finally got to Franklin Canyon this weekend, and I could barely believe I was surrounded by bazillions of people on all sides.
