If Rachel Ray wants to really feed the world well, she can help to import olive oil at the less than exhorbitant prices I saw last time I was in the US. Here in Spain a supermarket brand EVOO, one liter (like a quart) is 3.50€, or a little over $5. There's no excuse it should cost so much more in supermarkets, or on her damn show.
@Antrack: The first time I ever made a turkey, I used his recipe. Now no one else in our family is allowed to make a turkey but me. The juiciest, best tasting bird I've ever had.
@Antrack: Ahhh, you haven't had his chocolate mousse. I make it a lot for my friends, and as a filling for cakes and I've been told it's orgasmic. Make sure you use Dove Dark chocolate. Totally worth it.

@Tippi Hedren: I love Alton Brown. He is not only explaining how to prepare a recipe but he explains how the recipe works and gives background on how it was developed. I find that to be usefull. Not all of his recipes are great, but I enjoy his show. Too each his/her own, though.
However this cartoon.....
Putting ingredients in separate bowls is part of a process called "mise en place." It is not some quirk of Brown's, it's how chefs are taught to cook. Anthony Bourdain recommends home cooks follow this process in his book, "Kitchen Confidential" It's not only an organizational thing, it's a safety and cleanliness thing. Measuring and portioning ingredients before starting to cook means that you won't be handling raw meat or eggs and then go rummaging through your cabinet or touching jars and canisters that you'll put back in the pantry or refrigerator.
Me and my husband play this game where we guess what Guy's reaction to the food he's tasting is going to be. Basically, he just names the ingredients, eg, "Mmmm the meat and the cheese coupled with the sauce and the bread are just killer."
Also, 1999 called: it wants its frosted tips back.
@phnuggle: Oh god, I know why she did this... my love for Y&R I picked up in college will never die. She plays a crazy woman who treated her taxidermied cat like it was still alive. Then it got eaten by a dog, then she killed the dog. I didn't realize she was into method acting, though.
Sandra Lee could have gone much more Barbie and still been okay. She's essentially Holly Housewife Barbie but who's been marinated in booze spiked with valium...who can cook...

I understand why you'd skip Stacy Haiduk's ensemble. The elegance kind of overwhelms everyone else.

With her haircut she looks a lot like Christina Applegate. Two 90's teen icons who have transitioned VERY well!!
