I had a very inquisitive cat who crawled in the dryer once when my mother was doing laundry. She didn't see the cat and started the dryer then she heard deathly howling, scratching and taping on the dryer door. She opened the door and nearly had a heart attack when the cat came flying out. The cat was totally fine and lived a good long 15 years after that event life. In other words, feel free to laugh. We certainly did.
@dissolver: Icanhascheezburger has shown us the enormous volume of cute kitty videos/pics out there, and yet I fear, there are not enough to outnumber the stories that make me hate the world. :(
OK. Watching Willard last night has skewed my perspective a little. The adorable wee kitty emerging from a crack in the sofa? Kinda creepy to me right now!
Once when I was a kid, our cat went missing for a whole day. We had looked all over the house, in the yard, everywhere. In the evening, we were sitting on the couch and we'd hear her meow and immediately jump up and look around the room and in the vicinity of the house near the living room, with no luck. This happened several times until I noticed a small paw come out from under the couch. She had been stuck inside the hide-a-bed all day. Poor thing!
@poires et poireaux: Oooo - ugly story. My grandma folded my aunt's cat to death inside a sofabed without realizing. The cat was missing for weeks and then they smelled...told you, ugly story.
@poires et poireaux: When my kitty was a wee kitten, not long after I adopted her, she climbed into my dryer with some wet clothes without my notice. Fortunately, I heard some serious thunking going on shortly after I started the load, and after thinking to myself "Did I accidentally put a SHOE in there?" it occurred to me it might be the kitten and I rescued her forthwith. She was fine, and she's a lover, not a fighter, so she forgave me right off the bat. And I gave her lots of Greenies to make up for it. Poor thing!
@Penny_Esq: Oooh! You're lucky she was okay. The same thing happened to one of my cats when I was a kid, but with much worse results. It was very traumatizing and I still have issues with opening and closing dryers to this day.
@poires et poireaux: Once when I moved (it happens too frequently in my career) my fave siamese Buddy went missing. After searching and searching and getting management involved (You are SURE no one's been in here and let him out?!) I opened a drawer in the bathroom to find he'd opened it, crawled in and then it autoshut him inside! Little bastard had me scared to death.
@stacyinbean: I don't want to tell you how long it took me to understand this. I am a bear of very little brain, but you, you are SOFA KING HISS-TERICAL!!
