@Diziet_Sma: I thought Dave was going to confess his love for Mike, explaining why a blonde bombshell needed to make a wish in the first place. #mantrappsa
I don't know that I'd mind being captured by a British granny. We could have a nice cuppa and I'd learn the latest gossip about the vicar. Yes, in my world it's still 1953 in Britain. #mantrappsa
Britain loves a random PSA. I wish I could find the one from my childhood warning men (specifically men) about the dangers of not warming up properly before weightlifting...
My first thought on seeing the headline: "This is a frightened city. Over these houses, over these streets hangs a pall of fear. Fear of a new kind of violence which is terrorizing the city. Yes, gangs of old ladies attacking defenceless fit young men." #mantrappsa
in a lot of countries, especially in East Africa, inter-generational relationships are a huge problem as a vector for spreading HIV/AIDS. women in these relationships with much older men, usually around the age of their fathers, have very little ability to negotiate sex, and their husbands have usually had previous wives or at least lovers. in Uganda there are a number of public service campaigns cautioning against these types of relationships. for example, while i was in Uganda last summer, there were numerous billboards with slogans such as "would you let him [an older man pictured] marry your daughter? then don't marry his."
this is a very funny graphic, but all of the comments seem to be belittling the very idea of the campaign. these kinds of messages are important, and do not necessarily undermine a woman's ability to make decisions or enforce the Patriarchy. in fact, in the campaigns that i saw while in East Africa, they are in a way undermining the Patriarchy.
This X1000. I'm surprised by how many comments here are belittling the poster, although maybe a little context would've helped. I mean, I think this poster is almost 100% true.
In Tanzania it was totally common for older men to prey on young girls, and they didn't give a shit if they gave them AIDS. It was also really common for teachers to solicit sex from female students in exchange for, like, allowing them to go to school, stuff like that. It was crazy.
@TallyCola: I knew intergenerational relationships were problematic, but I never knew that so many girls had sex with men in exchange for school fees, books, or uniforms, as several comments here have noted.
That is so, so depressing, that these girls recognize the value of education so much that they are willing to go to such lengths.
And the menz shouldn't talk to me with anger in their voices. Or give me AIDS. They should think about their sisters & mothers before giving schoolgirls AIDS.

So only school girls can get those things from older men, right? Not like drop outs or graduates who might be lured in by an oldster.

2. Would Lucy Van Pelt really take anything, let alone a placard with an STD written on it, from anybody?

On the other hand, better sex, a joint income, and a lesser chance of divorce?
