@Vivi21: Fidelity in marriage in japan has never been the norm, for men or for women. If it happens, then bully for them, as the japanese think, but staying strictly within the marriage has never had the premium there that it has in our society.
And they never got around to banning prostitution until the US occupation in the 50s, under heavy pressure from us to do so. It's still very tolerated.
I know that, but it still rankles me. I suppose if, in a marriage, both parties agree that they can look outside of the marriage for satisfaction, it's one thing, but otherwise, I'm not a fan of people who are unfaithful.
Well the first half about "men need to get their rocks off no matter what" is incredibly true. During the Great Depression brothels were very very successful--just a heads up to everyone out there in this new economic fallout. I mean according to The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas men would bring chickens to pay for sex if they didn't have money (hence the name chicken ranch) does that mean the people at Moonlight bunny ranch accept rabbit?
But would outlawing brothels end the tea houses/geishas?
