In real life though, maybe it's a "je ne sais quois" that has to do with some kind of awe and appreciation? Maybe it's the hormonal changes that trigger something in men? I dunno.
I don't hit on, stalk, or otherwise molest pregnant women, though. Not my thing, I guess.

This fetish is Way common.
I was as shocked as anyone when I first talked to a guy about it. What what what???
There seems to be a few things at play..
The sensual. Different textures, tastes and looks about a pergnant woman. Lactation is a big part of it too.
The Fecundity factor. What is more sexual than reproduction, after all that is the point of all this brouhaha.
Virgin-whore? A "nice" lady who is a horny slut? Oh yeah boys. And she has the proof, unprotected sex, caution thrown to the wind.
Nothing to do with the infant itself it seems they never talk about the baby. so no kiddie porn there.
Men seem to think alot about the basic function of sex..(REALLY!) Clinical sex ed words turn them on more than I could have ever thought...SPERM! VAGINA! TESTICLES!
Just what I have observed.
Yeah, I laugh a lot.

I wonder how much this fetish has to do with mens' mommy issues.

This rarely has anything to do with the "desperation" of the sex worker. Many that I've known just try to keep working by using their pregnancy to their advantage by working the fetishized pregnancy angle, but it's not like they're necessarily getting the same clients they were before they were knocked up.

I'm really really tired of seeing sex workers getting the shaft from jezebel folks. I'd love to see the attitude of "sex workers are doin' it because they're desperate or forced" stop...and while we're at it, the one about them being uneducated needs to stop as well.
Where's my copy of "Whores and other Feminists" I'm about to go on a wordy rampage.

I'm so sick of reading about how Jezebel is "feminist" because its not. Just because a publication is left-leaning and women-focused doesn't make it "feminist." Like has ANYONE at this blog taken a feminist philosophy course?
Sorry for the rant, i normally keep quiet but this post was the straw that broke it
And btw, my husband is very into pregnant women.

Prostitution makes me very, very uncomfortable, and do you know why? Because I have researched, read the experiences of sex workers (both those who were okay with it and those who ultimately weren't), and it's NOT a black and white issue at all.
Sorry if I'm not a feminist now because I disagree with you.

I'm particularly puzzled by Sadie's upturned nose at the "desperate hooker" in the above op-ed. I just think it's a very dehumanizing viewpoint. And are we asking folks to psychoanalyze every fetish out there? To what end?
Additionally, I'm sure that plenty of people here have taken a feminist philosophy course and asking that isn't going to help things here. Just because people take different views does not necessarily mean that they haven't studied the issue at hand.

I'm not trying to come off like an ass; I just don't know much about sex workers, exploited or otherwise, in the world. Feel free to shoot me a line off-thread if you'd prefer.

Jezebel is PLENTY feminist. If you're going to be in the sex industry, you have to accept that it is a flashpoint vocation and that your choice--however it's informed-- will inspire much debate.
I'd have loved to have gotten a standing ovation from every person on Earth every time I strapped on the Lucite platforms, but one of the conditions of the job is accepting that you will have to take some heat.

Sure, here are two of my favorite books:
Whores and Other Feminists ed. by Jill Nagle
Live Sex Acts by Wendy Chapkis
I can't google these things at work, but check out the work of Scarlot Harlot, Melissa Gira, SPREAD magazine, the Sex Worker Art Project tour
When I'm at home, I'd be happy to email you my thesis (it's not that long and is written in a more social commentary style and has pictures!) if you're interested.

Are there any other sources that portray views of sex work and are those views representative of sex workers in general for a particular fetish or region of the world, etc? Feel free to shoot me a line off-thread if you'd prefer. This site has been great for me to get to learn more about new topics, and I'd really like to understand more about the sex industy -- if nothing else so that I have something relevant to say or ask when these discussion pop up.

2) Pregnancy is like the ultimate ending to sex. It might make a gent feel more Verile.
3) Pregnant ladies tend to have big ol' titties. Pregnant boobies are nice.
