Did anyone else notice the claim they slipped in at the end of the Daily Mail article that Beyonce is 9 years older than she claimed? WTF? Is this true?
@hellatuff: I can't believe this either. If you are going to lie about your age, knock off a decade. Makes it easier to calculate dates on the hoof......or so I have found.
I do not know, specifically, what Aquascutum is, but judging solely on the company's ability to choose an appealing name, I would reject their bid as well.
@jigglyball: I take it you are not a latin scholar. Aquascutum is latin for watershield. When the company was first set up in 1851 it provided waterproof coats for British soldiers in the Crimea, using the waterproof woollen fabric the owner had patented. Having survived 158 years, the Aquascutum brand is one of the company's chief marketing asset.
The fact that it was once common for people to live in hotels is so glamorous to me, and so old-fashioned. I understand that it was pretty economical back in the day (at least, for some people in certain hotels) but it is baffling how that can possibly be a good move today. Does Sally Singer pay something like 19K a month to live there? Does she have a kitchen? Does a maid clean her room everyday?
Actual Mark Sanchez story: QB and Moddle slept together after being mostly naked in fashion shoot. Crew buzzing because all are upset not to be sleeping with either QB or Moddle. Reps silent as to veracity of this one (or three) night stand.
Condi Rice shops at Nordstrom (at Pentagon) and it would be great to see Michelle in there on occasion, too. They have a good kids department. And they can outfit Mrs. Robinson (who looked great the other night.)
@ShanaElmsford: I love Isabel Toledo. I'm sorry she's never had big commercial success, but she'd be a great designer for Michelle.
I hope Michelle will be very careful in taking Vogue's advice. ALT gave Jennifer Hudson some real duds, and I don't think they did much to help Hillary, either. Hillary had to find her own niche with the pant suits.
Yeah, well, I thought the sleeves of Barack's suit jacket were 1 mm too long. Fashion fail!
(Sorry, I just hate that women are subjected to all this analysis of how the dress sucks, or the dress is good but it fits them wrong, or makes their butt look bigger than it is, or whatever. Guys have it SO EASY, and it bugs the hell out of me.)
@MegSpencer: "Nice tie." Actually, when it's good, you don't really notice a man's suit at all. When it's bad, it's usually horrid. They don't get a lot of middle ground.
I could sing the praises of zappos customer service from the rooftops. They upgrade every freaking order to 2 dayn shipping when the regular shipping was free anyways! Who does that?! And their selection of shoes and bags is so huge I always find what I'm looking for. They are fabo.
Okay, I must admit to hating that dress on Michelle, but in the moment I was so awed I let it slide. Then when I saw Andre Leon Tally in the audience I thought humm is this his doing?? I have always loved her clothing, I am giving her this one fashion pass!! I am sure that at the inauguration she will be utterly flawless. Don't doubt that!!
Michelle is a total fox. I go back and forth between loving the dress and thinking she pulled of a difficult look, and kind of wondering what's going on with it. I'm so confused, but it doesn't make me love her less.
Also, I love, love, love Zappos. I order stuff from them even when I can find it a little cheaper elsewhere because I like to support a business that treats both its customers and employees well.
@Miss. Money-Sterling: I'm with you. My first knee-jerk reaction was, "Wow, hmm, not sure that works" and then it grew on me due to her general stunningness and adorable coordination with the rest of the fam. Not to mention that as I think someone else pointed out, she could pretty much rock a paper bag.

I know this because I used to have to do inventory at a swanky men's store in San Francisco.
