I value having the un- and under-insured being able to receive fair and decent medical services, I value pre and post-natal care for all babies, yearly checkups for all children, annual physicals for adults, and open honest conversations about contraception and sexual health. The lives and well-being of my fellow country men and women is deeply important to me and I value it immensely.

    Death penalty kills criminals. Abortion kills innocent babies.

    @snintn: this isn't entirely fair; even though the Catholic Church takes a fairly reprehensible line when it comes to abortion and choice, they are also fairly consistent about the sanctity of life, as they also oppose capital punishment.
    plus, you know, they're kind of big on the whole anti-poverty advocacy thing, so they do actually care about people, etc. (i don't think soup kitchens are run exclusively by pro-choicers, do you?) #sarahpalin

    "Despite Americans' decisive message last Tuesday that they reject the troubling path this country has been taking..." Um, no. Tuesday's election was not a rejection of Obama. Corzine was a lame duck Governor dogged by corruption charges. And quoting the Wall Street Journal gives her no credibility. For one, I doubt she has actually ever read the WSJ. For two, the WSJ is ran by Republican henchmen, the same ones who write this dummy's speeches. It's all just one big clusterfuck of Republicans echoing each others policies and talking points. For a woman who has never accomplished anything in her political life, she's got some nerve taking swings at Pelosi. Please, Sarah, just go away.

    As far as I can tell, Palin's "audience" at this point is comprised entirely of members of the Montana militia, Westboro Baptist Church congregants, and conspiracy theorists who find World Net Daily too left-leaning.

    She needs to STFU already about "rationing care" and "death panels." Fuck you, lady. You think our health care isn't rationed already? Only in the US would a political party protect an industry that sits around pondering whether to make gender a pre-existing condition under which health care can be denied. Where a victim of domestic violence can be denied health care because she is too high-risk. Where the failure to disclose treatment of a teenage case of acne can cause the termination of a health insurance policy you have paid for faithfully for years under the assumption that if you get cancer, you'd get treatment.

    Fuck this fucking country, where Republicans "leaders" can grab whatever microphone is in front of them and yammer on with lies about pulling the plug on your grandma and women traipsing off to get three abortions on their lunch hour and how we have the best health care system in the world.

    Fuck you, Sarah Palin, and the horse you rode in on. I hope you get hemmorhoids and end up being denied treatment because you were once pregnant and that's a pre-existing condition. Karma can't come soon enough to suit me. #sarahpalin

    @willwriteforfood: FUCKING WORD. Sorry for the capslocking, but as someone who has spent years without health insurance (am on it now, thank dog) and still has to ration some care, fuck off Palin. I have asthma, depression and am fat. I'd never get insurance outside of an employer and even with insurance, it can suck.

    My dental only covers half of procedures beyond cleaning, and the time I spent w/out insurance made simple cavities require root canals. So I have had rc's on those teeth, but my shitty dental covers only half of a crown, which is expensive. And some of the crowns won't be covered at all, because they're deemed cosmetic. So I have several uncompleted root canals causing major pain, and I can't get any further on them because every dentist I've seen expects you to pay 100% of the part not covered by insurance. And this is the kinda shit you get when you have insurance. We already have rationed care and frakkin' death panels. #sarahpalin

    @snark_shark: I know, right? I have BC/BS and they declined to pay $180 for a mammogram that my ob/gyn said was necessary because he'd seen a spot on a previous mammogram. I could have just given up and eaten the cost myself, but fuck, it's a freaking mammogram! Isn't the whole point of a mammogram to detect things like spots?

    I fought them for three months to ante up and while they did end up paying, it made me wonder just how much harder they'd fight it if there actually were something wrong with me that would cost a lot more than $180.

    Now my company has switched us to another health insurance company that has, at best, 15 percent of the market in this state. The biggest, best research hospital in the state won't take that insurance. I guess I should just hope I don't get hit by a bus.

    My colleague gets upset whenever I say the words "public option." He despises the idea of a government-run plan, but the more we hear horror stories about our new health plan, the more I can see the gears in his head thinking, "Gee, maybe we really do need more options..." Ya think??? #sarahpalin

    I'm really scared of the rising power of the religious right. I always think of worst case scenarios, and I live in this weird perpetual fear that one day, our lives are going to be like that in The Handmaid's Tale. An irrational fear, I know, but every time there is a significant victory like this for the right, a part of me leaps forward to that worst case scenario. #sarahpalin
