    I liked it, but the slideshow was terrible. Shopping for jeans is a nightmare at any size because there are 5000 styles, cuts, and washes to choose from - that was just a list of 5 companies that make jeans. They didn't even recommend a particular style for any of the brands.

    FYI, I am partial to Old Navy Sweetheart jeans - they fit my hips and tush without gaping at the waist. And the back pockets are well-placed. #biggirlinskinnyworld

    @FattyCatty: YES. I buy Sweethearts three pairs at a time. Always in the store, though; I bought a few pairs on eBay and the sizes were a bit off.

    @rednrowdy: Nah. It's useful in two ways:

    1.) Believe it or not, we plus sized dames aren't all shaped the same way.

    2.) Owning those digits = awesome. Years of lying about, re-calculating or generally avoiding those oh-so-embarrasing-always-too-high numbers on the scale is beyond wonderful.

    @MrsAbraxas: i'm plus size myself and am acutely aware of the differences in sizes among all sizes of women, but around here i've seen lots of people putting their height and weight and it can be a trigger for other stuff.

    i feel like it would have been better to post her actual dress size rather than her height and weight, but that's just me. #biggirlinskinnyworld

    @rednrowdy: But dress sizes fluctuate widely depending on the brand. Depending on who makes a pair of pants, for example, I wear anywhere from a size 2 (talk about vanity sizing!) to a size 8. Expressing size in terms of measurements is much less ambiguous. And if the point is to own one's body and take pride in it, isn't it better to say "Damn right, I'm 5'2" and 220 pounds" than to say "I wear a size [whatever]" and have everybody debating over what a size [whatever] "really" looks like? #biggirlinskinnyworld

    i work part time as a plus size fit model. anything over a 'straight' size 12 is plus size, and even that depends on the brand and where the brand's size measurements lie. certain brands will use a plus size fit model that has thinner arms, for instance, or a fuller bust and waist, and because the clothes are made to that model, all the measurements for sizes come from the fit models original measurements. two inch increase on the hips for a size 20, etc.

    as the market dictates today, a woman who wears a size 18 is plus size. there is a difference in the sizing between a size 18 and a size 18W (it's usually give or take an inch) but from the market's perspective, an 18 is plus size with or without the W next to it. #biggirlinskinnyworld

    @Tara Incognita: I was trying on boots in NZ when a woman sidled up to me and whispered the Duo tip, while showing me the Duo boots she was wearing. I'd never heard of them while living in the UK, but I'm so glad she told me. They are AWESOME, and now I buy boots from Duo regularly.

    My only caveat would be that the ankle circumference differs between styles, so it's worth writing the sales team and saying "I love my x boots, what other styles have the same ankle fit?" They'll be straight-up with you. #biggirlinskinnyworld

    My solution to the "thigh problem" in high school was to actually cut the jeans across the back of my legs from the thigh-hole and then sew some flannel to the inside as a backing.

    I was very klassy in high school.

    @SarahMC: No but I do this to blazers constantly. It's hard because I like them fitted (not tight) and the lining inevitably falls apart. I really think it's just a matter of wear and tear. The more you wear something, the faster it will fall apart. #biggirlinskinnyworld

    @Penny: Oh God, that happens to me, too. Every blazer-cut piece I own inevitably ends up with a tear in the lining right down the middle of the back because I like to wrap my layers around myself.

    @Penny: Oh, my "dressy" winter coat's lining shredded after just a few weeks. It split at the shoulder so I have to really concentrate when I'm putting my left arm through the sleeve. Sometimes I stick it through the lining instead and there's nowhere for my hand to escape at the end of the sleeve. #biggirlinskinnyworld

    @SarahMC: I think it's entirely likely that she developed a self-deprecating sense of humor in direct response to the way people have viewed her weight for her entire life -- I doubt it was a conscious decision for the express purpose of this feature, but rather a coping mechanism she developed over time (but for the same reason -- "don't worry; I know I'm not ideal.") #biggirlinskinnyworld

    I liked her article, though I do remember being annoyed by some of the quotations highlighted by the editors. I don't have the article in front of me, so I can't remember all of the details. Ashley seems fierce, so I just hope they don't take on a pitying tone or make this really othering (like the line about her trying on 25 items for every 1 she buys; that struck me as melodramatic. But then I don't try to shop for designer clothes).

    As for her accessories comment, it made me laugh because it's pretty much true, although I do find boot-shopping a nightmare. And I do happen to be wearing a pair of jeans whose inner thigh seam I mended last week. ha. I don't know; I have a self-depreciating sense of humor, so she made me laugh. #biggirlinskinnyworld

    @HannahBethD: When I was a teenager I was so ashamed the first time this happened that I went on a crash diet. It was years before I realized it happens to anyone with thighs set a certain way.     @newyorkette: I find if I sew an small piece of fabric inside the top of each leg, just where the maximum friction is, they last longer. It's annoying to do, but cheaper than new jeans. #biggirlinskinnyworld

    Boots and shoes are never a good fit for me, and that sucks. I spend fruitless hours looking for boots that fit, and that won't fall apart the first time I wear them.

    I wonder if she will address the terrible quality of goods available to plus size people. It sucks, because I have money to spend on nice things, I am just never given the opportunity. #biggirlinskinnyworld

    @aisuru113: I'm not entirely sure. I have a friend who swears by them, but I don't know the size of her calves. Also, you CAN have them widened at a cobbler, but it can be pricey. #biggirlinskinnyworld

    @HannahBethD: If you go to smaller shoe companies, you can usually find better quality products (real leather, yay!), and they'll stretch the calves of the boots out for you, etc.

    (My favourite shoestore is John Fluevog - worth checking out for sure. Their stuff lasts FOREVER.) #biggirlinskinnyworld

    Here's a tip for all of you: Fitzwell! Not only are they insanely fashionable, the calves are huge. I actually had to RETURN a pair because they were too big for my 16" calves, so make sure you get the right measurement. Zappos has lots, like these:

    @this_charming_one: I can usually only find up at a 17" sometimes on Zappos. As much as I like boots I dont' even bother now unless they are ankel height that I can under pants #biggirlinskinnyworld
