In Which I Wish Barack Obama Wasn't Such A Picky Eater |

The boy is left-handed and super-de-duper smart (like our Barry), and Jeezy Creezy, but he puts the "pick" in "picky." He is, as the NYT so aptly put it, "neo-phobic." He's bravely gotten much better, but he will be sooooo pleased to hear that Barack Obama is picky, too!
But that's where the parallels end. There's no way I'm letting him be President.

Loves chips and salsa?
Puts hot sauce on everything?
I KNEW I was the long-lost Obama daughter!

I also don't like to eat at potlucks, because I have no idea what's in anything or the cleanliness of where it was prepared, or whether it's been kept at the proper temperature. That's more a safety issue than anything else.

Beets ARE really an acquired taste, though--they taste so earthy and starchy and sharp all at once that I can see why some people don't like them.

The only foods I actually don't like are pickles, beets, and oatmeal (the texture). I don't think that's too picky.

I can't imagine that a man who eats like that is any good in bed.
Are you sure you want to marry him? I mean, really, really, really sure?

Oh, little known fact. JFK's digestive system was a complete mess. He suffered from Chron's disease and was in constant pain. His doctor carried around a fully stocked medical bag at all times. This was not public knowledge.

It's annoying because my inlaws consider me picky, but they eat nothing besides low grade meat, runny mashed potatoes, and overcooked veggies. I typically prepare my own food when I visit 'cause they don't seem to eat fresh food ever. It's gross. The closest thing to "ethnic" food (anything besides The Cracker Barrel/Waffle House) they get to is Macaroni Grill.
My husband is sorta picky in a meat and potatoes way but he has come a long way over the years. He at least tries things and he now likes Thai, real Chinese, eggplant, hummus, almost all veggies, typical vegan cuisine...Big change for him. The only thing he won't eat is Indian food. But that's only if he knows about it. He says he doesn't like curry but he doesn't know what it is, so I made a homemade Indian curry dish and he liked it. I just told him it was a vegetarian stew.

I grew up in a household where everything was cooked from scratch and nothing was off the menu, that said my mum spent years wearing my dad down as Irish men are not known for their adventurous food tastes.
I am in the midst of the same thing with my husband, who is also Irish, generally it just involves serving him things and watching him get surprised that he likes it. He had never had fish that wasn't from a fish and chip shop or in fish stick form, until we got together for example.

I only ask because I love grapes (my family used to call me the grape monster, because I would stand in front of the fridge and shovel them in my mouth). That being said I hate raisins. They are grapes without their souls. They make me sad.

Yeah, when I lived in a place where people actually grew and canned their own olives, and then served them with great pride and big smiles on their faces, I would say I was allergic.
"Allergic" to olives? And no one ever called me on it. The best lies are the stupidest ones.
