Oh hi. Can we get a discussion going about what they've done to her right arm and hand on this cover? Please tell me that's a #photoshopofhorrors and she doesn't secretly have one misshapen little raptor arm...
@special_boots: Look how her elbow is so much wider than her wrist, how it looks like her arm gets unnaturally thinner. Its because she is sticking her elbow out, just about parallel to the ground. Do it in a mirror.
@nobodyr: No, I mean, clearly there's foreshortening involved here. I stared at the photo long and hard before commenting to be as sure as I could that foreshortening wasn't the only thing I was seeing. But I still don't think it is.
Her shoulder, the way her arm folds at the armpit, the way her hand disappears so abruptly into her hair -- take one more look. It continues to look very, very off to me.
@Kilotwat: thanks :)
Also, I'm still a little undecided on whether or not that is Demi's body in this picture. The shoulder pieces and the, erm, krotch pieces look a lot different.
Carmen Soo's dress is nothing less than fabulous, no question about it. Perfectly accessorized also.
I just don't like not recognizing Katherine McPhee. I love her dress. I hope she goes back to brunette soon, though.
Fit issues notwithstanding, Juliana's dress is rockin too. So much so that I almost didn't notice she'd accessorized with black and gold, which looks ok. But just so. I would have been fab paired with just gold or white and gold accessories. The black is just too much for the softness of her hairdo and dress.
My inner Edna Mode screamed "too much of it dahling!" at #11.
If we, as a society, put half as much thought into issues of war and peace as we did Demi's body, the Ralph Lauren photoshop job, and Sarah freakout Palin, then we would have achieved world peace decades ago.Not a Jezebel slam; everyone's debating it, and that's Jezebel's shop. I enjoy these posts. It just amazes how much folks...care.
Care...meaning these magazine people as well, who think a gorgeous woman just insn't good enough.
That dress looks pretty rigid to me. According to the W link, it's made of metal and leather. So if the dress holds its shape, that could explain it, too. It might even be the exact same one from the runway show. Either way, she's still airbrushed to shit, even in the "original" photo Demi tweeted.
@sayah: It would also explain the way the hips/waist appear off in Demi's picture. The model has her leg back, she is in motion. In Demi's her feet are planted.
Or it's like another commenter suggested, the dress is like a corset.
Demi Moore is pretty skinny, but I always thought she had a very athletic body. Compared to this picture, albeit it was 5 years ago, the dress in the W shot is probably cracking those ribs away.
@cinematheques: There is no amount of dieting that will shrink a ribcage, and hers is evidently much wider in the screencap than on the cover. Demi looks great, why did they do this to her? And secondly, why is she defending it adamantly, even posting an "unretouched" version of this, which is more likely just an unfinished photoshop job?
I don't think they superimposed Demi's head on Anja Rubik's body, however I would not be surprised if they photoshopped her with Anja's runway image in mind. Demi is toned, but she has never been waifish.
Sadie, that was comedy gold! Its hard to pick a favorite, but of all the comments I think #11 wins. But, then I remember #4 and...damn its ALL hilarious!

Trust me, my feelings aren't hurt; no apology necessary. I just think you're wrong.
And if you aren't wrong, they sure chose an unfortunate shot, because that'd be by far the most bizarre example of foreshortening I've ever seen.

Luckily for ya'll I found the original, unphotoshopped picture so that we can clear this whole mess up.
