That story about Adrian Grenier is actually pretty cool. And proof that there are things more important than celebrity to celebrities. Maybe?

You know, I do feel sorry for Paula. That $15 million a year deal for Seacrest is RIDICULOUS.

I found it interesting that he refers to the beating as "the incident." I have little reason to believe that he is sorry for what he has done if he can't even say the words out loud (on top of the scads of other reasons people have already listed).

If you can't say it, you haven't owned up to it, and I don't believe you can be truly remorseful if you don't own up to it.

Chris Brown's apology is not sincere, imho.

    That is all.

I dont know how to feel about Chris Brown's apology, on the one hand I have been waiting for him to publicy express his shame/regret instead of attending swanky parties with Rihanna look-alikes as though everything was back to normal.

On the other hand he hasnt expressed how he will work to make things right, not just to Rihanna, but to the girls and boys who idolize him still, until he does that I think people should take this apology with a grain of salt

Exactly. I know its really not anyone's business except Rhianna, Brown, and their family/friends. But, if Brown wants to be taken seriously, If any abuser wants to be taken seriously, an explanation of exactly why they (and NOT the victim) are at fault is necessary. In Brown's case, he really should step down from claiming to be a role-model. It should call himself a sack of shit who is now in counseling. The role-model stuff can wait. @jaffacakes:

The only thing that would make the Chris Brown apology sincere is if he were in the chair scene from Casino Royale and Jay Z was swinging the rope.

I can't help but think that Chris Brown's apology would be more sincere if:
    1. He wasn't dressed like Sgt. Pepper.
    2. He hasn't been making a series of inappropriate "jokes" at Rihanna's expense over his last 5 months of forced silence.

Good on Chris Brown! Damn Jezebels, what would you prefer? That he didn't apologize? It seems sincere to me, he doesn't make excuses, and he talks about soul-searching and seeking counseling - he's taking responsibility for his actions and taking steps to address the root causes. Isn't that what we want from abusers?

@whynotshesaid: I'm really not trying to say we shouldn't be skeptical of his claims. I've never been the victim of physical abuse, but I did date an emotionally/verbally abuse guy, and I am all too familiar with the cycle of apologies and forgiveness and the same shit happening again and again.

I'm not saying Chris Brown's cured. I'm not saying he's a good guy. I just can't figure out what more we want of a not-cured bad abuser-guy, if not for him to admit and apologize for his mistakes and take affirmative steps to try to address his problem.

We can be skeptical. We can wish he had said more, or said it better, cried on camera, whatever. But I think we should give him some credit for at least ACKNOWLEDGING and TRYING to change his bad behavior. That's more than a lot of abusers ever do. Including those who get caught. And it's exactly the kind of behavior *I* want to encourage in abusers.

Attacked by flesh-eating trolls living under her sink? That would be preposterous. Injured on the set of her new film? Somewhat less preposterous. Mischa Barton and a 3-day coke binge? Sorry well-meaning Hollywood rep, but that is both realistic and probable.
