Yeah, no. A woman would still be wearing a chemise, a corset, pantaloons, and one or more petticoats over the crinoline, which could be made of bone or metal- not to mention the actual outer dress itself.

Contrast that with the relative freedom of the empire era, and it's a big hop backwards.

I dunno if it's the enormity of my thighs, but crossing my legs is a bit of an issue. So a hoop skirt is ideal to let me sit man-style with my legs wide apart, without revealing my cooter.

@ceejeemcbeegee: But when you sit down, doesn't the hoop pop the front of the skirt up?

I've always loved wearing ankle length skirts so I don't have to worry about how I cross my legs. That whole long skirt/hiking boot thing was my ideal era. And in the cold I'd wear leggings underneath.

The 1850s period is actually one of my least favorite in terms of clothing. I hate the men's padded jackets and such. Also - mutton chops!! And I hate the dresses as well. Yich!

Now Victorian and Edwardian - that is some clothing!

@tonightineed has a yeast infection and is not pleased: Oh, now I have so many questions! Like, why is the gal in the before picture wearing underwear two sizes too small? Does the stickum work in humid environments? Why do they look like pads? Is it sexy to remove this in front of a partner, with that velcro-sticky ripping sound of removal? Why does the name sound like a Sea World attraction? How is this creative?

I feel we have really found a niche in the lingerie industry which just so happens to be practical, sexy, and fun! That's how the SHIBUE couture-Strapless G String was born! Be creative with your Strapless G String and the possibilities are endless!

I must confess: I harbor a number of erotic fantasies involving hoop skirts, which I can no doubt entertain due to never having worn one. This may or may not be related to the fact that I still buy dresses based on how well they swirl when I spin in a circle.
