    I had a maltese mix growing up, so I'm biased toward them. I wouldn't recommend them, though, or a bichon frise. Unless they want their pup peeing all over the white house carpet - dogs in the bichon family (bichon frises, havanese, bolognese, maltese and coton de tulear) are notoriously hard to housebreak.


    We had our Barney for 12 years and he was peeing on the fireplace til the bitter end

    Beagles are the worst dogs ever. I am sorry. But it is true. They are stubborn and take absolutely forever to housebreak.


    That being said: I have a maltese and he is the apple of my eye. Great with kids, well mannered, and easy to housebreak.

    @ohgoodness: maltese rock, but I wouldn't say easy to train (or maybe that was the terrier in him?). Basically, he was Satan, but completely adorable and awesome

    I am pretty sure Malia is going to want a dog just like Nick Jonas' (golden retriever, I believe?)...and she'll probably name it after him, too. I sort of miss being ten.

    During the speech when Obama mentioned the puppy, I started jumping around yelling (and this is an exact quote), "Yaaaaay puppies! Puppies for everyone!".

    I know people are anti designer dogs, but for my stepmom, the golden doodle was really the best choice given her allergies and intolerance for shedding. Anderson Cooper Doodle has melted her heart, and he now spends a lot of time lounging with her on the sofa. Plus, who could resist this?
