My late pet mouse was, creatively enough, called Mousie McMouse.

Two of my three cats are former shelter kitties and they came with names: Sookie and Ming. Our third cat, a lovable neighborhood stray, is Marm, short for Marmalade. Our neighbor called her Marmalade but DH and I thought that was silly, as she is not orange, so we shortened it to Marm.

i've got dwarf hamsters and i always like to give the girls very exotic, pretty names because people are always surprised that "rodents" have these kinds of names. most recently:

daphne

anjou

kiki

alfie

bindi

the boys always get out-of-date, from a prior era name which somehow fits:

murray

stanley

reigel

Mine are called Jasper and Salem. Unfortunately, they identified Salem's sex wrong at the pet shop and she's actually a girl, but I think it suits her anyway.

The dog I had growing up was named B.J. But because he was a furry little chow chow, I insisted that his name be Fluffy.

So his full name was Fluffy B.J.

The cat in the photo is my sweet kitty, Buttercup. I had a cat named Daisy, and now I have another named Honeysuckle. My mom stole Sweet Pea for her cat, so the next time I get one she'll probably be named Bluebell. I'm kinda into flowers.

We have a dog named "Dennis". What can I say? Everyone says "the menace?" and I always explain that the rescue person was in her "D" month. I haven't met anyone else with a dog named Dennis yet. His full name is Sir Dennis Cheatgallows, CD (fugitive of Elsinore) because he was pulled out of the shelter at Lake Elsinore on his kill date. he is around 11 or 12 years old and is the best and most beloved of dogs.

Our other dogs are Ani (Doberman short of Anja). Before she was Ani she was also Otter and Addie. Her registered name is Mercury's Lunar Eclipse Elphame, NA, NJ.

Chips whose registered name is (Westgate Chips Ahoy)is a Toy Fox Terrier.

Our previous dogs are Freya and Skeeter. Our late cat was Bobcat, not because of her short tail, she had a regular tail, it was short for "Bob, the cat". I actually wanted to call her "Earl" but it just didn't work.

@Tart of Darkness: Gotta love the silly pedigree names. When I was little we had a dog that we got from our next door neighbor when he moved. We called her Misty, but her "official" name was "Running T's Mystic Reflection." Ridic.

@AFever: Yeah. I had nothing to do with Ani's registered name, but Dennis' ILP name was my husband's idea and Chips' name was sort of mine. It wasn't my first choice, but the breeder was willing to compromise on it.

My kitty cat is Rocky because of his white paws(like boxing gloves). I was going to name him Beau(like "boyfriend" because I was single when I got him), but Rocky suits him soooo well. He's a punkass.

I have a black cat named Snowball (pop culture reference for the win) and when I was a kid we had two cats named Stormy (found during a bad storm) and Fluffy (who was a Persian and I was eight). My mom recently got a Pomeranian dog that was born on the eve of Hurricane Gustav and his official AKC name is Prince Gustav Charmin. I would like to point out we just call him Gus.

My cat was named Trinity by her previous owner who abandoned her with me, because she was a crazy bitch who ran up walls like the character in "The Matrix".

She was really intense, like in my avatar where she is reaching through the blinds to kill my friends.

Don't think I'll ever meet another cat named trinity, but apparently it launched into the top 100 baby names after that movie, which completely confounds me.
