Question: Was there a legit source for the Faye Dunaway story? I was under the impression that Dunaway allegedly made the comment about Duff (according to the rumor mill). Someone please set me straight!
There was a really obvious blind item last week about a "perfect pop princess" who had blown all her money by living beyond her means and whose "perfect pop prince" of a boyfriend was cheating with an older woman (CB has a history of this). Ri also has a history of aggression towards her SOs...
First things I thought when I heard the story.
Still doesn't make any of it better, righter, less depressing though!
Feel free to correct me if i'm wrong, but I would have thought Scarlett Johansen describing hersewlf as 'curvy' is taking it a srep to far. Firstly, yes, she's curvy, when compared to Aniston and Jolie. However she is not Monroe 'curvy'. That woman was a size 14, a proper, everyday girl curvy. Johansen simply has breasts and hips, as opposed to almost every other woman in hollywood
@ememcece: But, isn't having breasts and hips kind of the definition of curvy? Can't you be curvy at any size since it's more a description of body shape?
@HanaMaru: True, but she would still be more of today's size 6 or maybe an 8, depending on her weight at the time.
I've long thought Kanye seemed like a nice enough dude. I too secretly like his music and listen to it, loudly, alone in my car. That was a really thoughtful thing for him to say. Everything else about this thing just hurts and disgusts me.
I cannot get over Perez saying something... meaningful.
Entirely unrelated, but I will take a page from the KISS guys book and henceforth refer to my offspring as ShortAuthorGirlStarChild. Okay, no I won't, but that is strange and sweet.
What a mess. I feel bad for both Rihanna and Chris Brown.
She was beaten. Her trust in Brown was broken perhaps extending to all men, too. Her private life is being displayed for everyone to see. Sex tapes, divorces, affairs are fine but this is not. Why can't people leave things of this caliber for the persons involved to deal with?
I kind of feel bad for Chris, too, in a way. He just about ruined his career because of a lack of self-control. He's fucking screwed.
Kanye, I know I make fun of you a lot, but this time you really made sense. No woman, whether she's obscure or famous or rich or poor, should ever have to be in a situation where a domestic partner/boyfriend/spouse hits her.
Thank you for saying this, Kanye. Also, I secretly like some of your music. Never tell a soul.
I'm proud of that bong owner for having the thought to sell the bong. I'm also glad I live in a state that will just give you a ticket for having pot now... Arresting people? Are they kidding?
@Scout: Yes, hopefully Rihanna is good and ashamed of herself for possibly provoking this violence. I love that yesterday your comment was all "waaait for the truth before speculating people!" And today, now that one report possibly has Rihanna starting the physical fight, you've latched onto that report.
My point was that if they were, indeed, both violent - they were (are) both wrong. see the word "if" and look it up.
I wanted to comment on the story because having been both a violent offender ( I assaulted an x boyfriend) as well as having been abused I think it very important to remember that VIOLENCE is never an *option.
This should be part of the ongoing discussion surrounding this particular case and it is a discussion that can be had without knowing the details of the events which transpire.
option: *unless it is a situation where you fight your way out of being raped or something similar
@Your Screenplay Sucks; Try Adding Zombies: it tires me that everyone is stuck on the details about the supposed herpes, alleged cheating, the degree to which she was hurt and details which are all, frankly, irrelevent - true or false
I took this recent post as an opportunity to remind people that regardless of who hit whom - what is relevant here is that violence is not an option.
There are people justifying the altercation when there is no justification - violence is violence
Just because you both missed my point doesn't meant that the discussion about violence NEVER being an option isn't a valid discussion point prior to and up until all details of the incident are released - there has been no question that violence was involved - it is just the by whom, the severity and why that is left for clarification.
When this story first broke I said "wait until the facts come out" because people were laying claims to things that weren't even being posted by reputable news channels (are there any left?)
@Scout: Agreed that violence is never good, but I'm sorry, there is a difference between a woman slapping a guy and the guy beating the shit out of her. Not saying it's right for her, but there IS a difference.
@Scout: The only facts I need to hear are how badly she was hurt. The reports are pretty clear so far that she was beaten. If she's got a slap mark and a dislocated shoulder I'm probably not going to pass judgment on intimate facts in their relationship that are none of my business.
They're grown but they're barely past college age and young folks full of ego and passion will tousle from time to time. The difference between that and criminal battery should hopefully be clear based on her injuries. Strength and size do matter, but gender is irrelevant.
@7states: when i mentioned "the degree to which she was hurt" I was referencing that the existing information could be erroneous and until the actual details are released, all I know is that violence took place - and IF it involved both parties delivering and receiving - it was wrong of them both, fundamentally.
Also, I wasn't stating nor implying that there is NO difference between a push / shove and a punch though, in reality the impetus (anger) is the same regardless of the outcome.
I feel the same way about a violence by a woman as I do about a violence by a man. A woman doesn't get a "free pass" to hit a man just because she may not be considered "as strong" - it is not acceptable by either gender and that was my ultimate point (though, shit, it took me long enough to communicate that clearly!)
I'm not here to argue the obvious difference between verbal abuse, pushing / shoving, a beating, rape, nor homicide - those differences are apparent
@JessaFields: Ahh that song just came on the radio! Not as bad as one of the stations making Chris Brown's "Forever" the song of the day (calling after you hear it plays qualifies you for a trip). They did that right after talking about the updates in the situation.
And yes, we only have top 40 and easy rock stations where I live. It's horrible. And the signal for NPR sucks.
@JessaFields: I'm so pissed at him for not having her back. Then again Clifford will be doing a bid soon too...and I will not be quick to judge the inmates who inevitably fuck his fake thug shit up. It's cool, we all make mistakes!
According to the father of another Russian tennis player, Maria Sharapova isn't absent from professional tennis because of an injury, but because she is concentrating on a love affair.
Hmmm, I wonder if this excuse will work at my job? I want time off to concentrate on a love affair. Also on parties, vodka shots, sleep, and that stack of Netflix DVDs on my TV set.
Grrrr on the Cybill Shepherd series idea--God forbid we eccentric Floridians should have to befriend a (gasp!) Yankee! Do they not know that most people who live in Florida were once Yankees? Stupid ignorant stereotypes.
@cocobanal: That's not always the case. Most? My family is from Florida, and has been for five generations. If you go far enough back, sure, they came from somewhere else, but I think it is a stereotype to say that Florida is really made up of Yankees or isn't really Southern. Or maybe there has been a huge shift in demographics in the past generation. I don't know. I just know that where I'm from, people have been there a long time.
But the 'tolerating' a Yankee plot is stupid, because Florida does rely on tourism for money, so most people there do not act like rednecks and say "Git off muh land!" So yes, that is stupid.
Actually the Kelsey Grammar thing isn't totally weird. He was the executive producer of Girlfriends (aka best show ever). He is apparently really into shows about groups of women.

if Rihanna did attack and hit Chris - she should be ashamed and Chris should be ashamed that he retaliated
they should both be ashamed for resorting to violence
they both need anger management in addition to whatever other legal decisions are made during the court case
period
