    Since the announcement of the RIF at Jezebel, I've been avoiding Gawker. When I hear Nick was getting rid of Sheila, I knew there would be trouble.


    I want to echo what everyone has said in regards to this being a travesty, and to say that for me personally, this web site has been a godsend. I can't imagine what will happen to it, but I do not plan to abandon it, no matter what. I will keep reading and posting until they turn the servers off.


    And Nick, though I know you're not reading this, and even if you were, you wouldn't pay attention to it, I'm still willing to pay to access this site (and the other Gawker sites). Charge me $10 a month (or even $20) and I'll pay. Set up a subscription service, so those who pay get the site without ads, or what have you, but do not abandon Jezebel. You have created a good thing -- please don't destroy it based solely on economics.

    I really like Sheila. That's shitty. I don't read Gawker regularly, but I do think their editors are pretty talented. I think the only thing I ever commented on @ Gawker was Moe's goodbye post.

    OK, economy. Stop this fuckin' recessing stuff. I'm tired of it. All my fellow media people are getting reamed up the ass courtesy of "declining ad revenues." Myself, I am praying to the Layoff Gods to be spared.


    I'm sick of this shit. It's making my liberal arts degree even more useless, damnit. And do you know what you get if you have a bunch of unemployed liberal arts majors? Lots of really bad poetry.

    I used to read Gawker and Defamer, now I can't imagine doing so. Things change and I just don't like the tone. It's a shame Denton can't keep talented people who could go a long way towards bringing new readers to the pages.

    Also: I'm not sure I ever fully grasped who, exactly, is being downsized at Jez. Was it that some of you will be part-time or something? I hate to beat a dead horse if that is what I'm doing (I have been only a sporadic presence around here lately), but if anyone could give me the whole story, it would be much appreciated.

    @rocknrollunicorn: Sadie, Megan and Tracie were going part-time, but that was a decision made prior to Jess saying she was leaving, I think. I don't know if there will be a full-time position opening up as a result of her departure.


    This just all really sucks.

    I hope we don't end with some sort of Zombie Jezebel- it looks like the blog we love but it is really dead and wants to eat our brains. It will be like that scene in every Zombie movie where a character sees the reinanimated corpse of someone they love, and doesn't understand they are dead and ends up having their intestines pulled out through their belly, while they are still alive.
