The smell of a man that you are well matched with genetically will be good. He will cover your probs and vica versa. Your sence of smell is badly affected by the Pill , so never choose a husband while on the Pill. If he smells bad and you want kids with him get out. If his real smell is wonderful- grab him. :>

I hate getting sweaty, I hate feeling like my pits might be developing their own bouquet--in general, I HATE feeling grimy. At all. I'd shower twice a day if I could. Sometimes I do, when my workout routine doesn't quite coincide with my personal-care / smelling-presentable routine.

My boyfriend is the same way, so we don't really smell each others' sweat. When we ARE all gross and icky from heat/exertion/whatever, we don't smell like much since we're both those "omg I really like showers and being clean always" weirdoes.

He does smell pretty fab when he uses my shampoo/bodywash. Rawr.

When my boyfriend and I were only dating for a few months, I went home from college for two months- and I got a sweatshirt to cuddle with. I still have that sweatshirt- and this reminds me that I need to make him wear it soon, I think the smell has worn off since the last time. (He restinks it up for me periodically)

when my husband leaves for work and I'm still in bed I roll over to his side and take a smell which puts me back to sleep. But seriously if he dutch ovens me on accident again I swear...

I have never done this and my boyfriend doesn't smell like anything. However, our puppy likes to burrow and snuggle in the dirty clothes he leaves on the floor while he's showering, and will even cry longingly outside the bathroom door if he closes it before she gets in there, and then he'll pick up the clothes to carry them to the laundry and the puppy will still be in there and I won't even see her but then he'll be all "puppy" and I'll be all "awwww" because she's really freakin' cute with her tiny little head and gigantic ears just pokin' out of the bundle of clothing.

I love that my cats love my smell. If I leave a piece of dirty clothing on the bed, they immediately move to sleep on top of it.

@Lymed: When I have to leave my dog with a friend or at a kennel I sleep in a t-shirt then leave that with him to sleep on. He's always happier that way.

@pamalter: I find this interesting too. My last boyfriend was a different race and I wasn't crazy about the way he smelled, although he was a clean freak and always smelled like himself + overpowering Irish Spring. But I thought at the time that it was odd that I didn't like the way he smelled since we should be aiming for genetic variety.

@AinsiSera: I dated a couple of guys of different races before marrying a white guy (I'm white). I'm very smell-sensitive, and I have to say I absolutely loved how a few of my non-white boyfriends smelled, and I never had the same love for the smell of any the white guys I dated, or my husband. Mostly it was the smell of their scalp. Who knows...

LDR, I wore one of his shirts on one of his visits and he said he didn't wash it until right before our next visit. He says his dog was very interested in his clothes.

@emdy: ditto on the LDR...I am a rabid sniffer due to this. One time after he left when he was visiting me, I got into bed, pulled the covers over my head, and took a mighty whiff. Then I realized how creepy I was being. I did tell him that story though, after he told me "you left your bra here when you visited...I've been sniffing it maaad" and I realized we're both creepy :)

I listened to an NPR story about the young widows of the Iraq war (i think there was a write up on here too) and a woman said when her husband's clothes arrived she went to smell them. And they had been washed.

@OhKermie: I had to pull over when I heard that story. At freaking 7:30 in the morning I was sobbing my car thinking about only have a few clean t-shirts left of my husband. My boyfriend is in the military and I don't know how I will function everyday when he is deployed.
