I have a hard time taking cooking tips from clean, tidy, corset-wearing chefs, such as Giada and Sandra Lee. Give me Guy Fieri, Paula Deen, Ina Garten, and Nigella Lawson - they seem quite willing to eat what they make, feed the dog halfway through, and make a big ol' mess. Of course, what I really need is someone else to clean up after me!

@Piranha426: according to my FN sources, she eats a spoonful, and then leaves it for the crew to devour. She does have cooking chops, according to them.

@AbyrneShasse: apparently Ina has to make every dish nine times -- NINE TIMES -- over two days. She and Nigella have the same producer, in case you've ever wondered why their shows seem alike.

I am a slut for Giada. She's what I miss most about TV. I admit that Rachael Ray made me not fear cooking, but Giada made me brave enough to experiment. And I cannot reccommend the Everyday Italian cookbook enough! The recipes are super-easy and a lot of them are pretty healthy.

Also, in her Seattle food travel speical she went to Dahlia Lounge. The next day we had reservations there ant I'll fully admit that whatever it was Giada had ordered, I ordered. And the crab cakes were delicious.

I have an Achewood apron I wear to cook, which replaced dmy children's robot-with-jingle-bells apron that my douche ex has.

I miss my robot, but I love my Teodor and spoon pocket.

I often put the finishing touches on a five-course meal while dressed and made-up...but I also wear a giant Williams-Sonoma apron, because I'm not crazy.

My mom once dropped the Thanksgiving turkey in the middle of turning it - all over her silk party dress. Learned my lesson right then and there.

My wife has no trouble cooking and getting messy; it's eating that usually causes problems.

And Giada is awesome -- I'll take her over Rachel Ray any day of the week.

@Yitzhak: That Iron Chef was SO RIGGED. Giada and Mario should always win. Always.

My gym has TVs on the cardio equiment and sadly, I've found that I can run for longer than I expected if I'm hypnotized by 30 Minute Meals. It's quick-paced and the colors are so pretty! Though I assume that if I went when Everyday Italian was on, the combination of Giada-envy and gorgeous food would be a pretty good motivator, too.

My version of cooking involves smoke, fire, and people politely spitting their food back into their napkins. I burnt pasta once. True story. So I don't cook.

On another note, does anyone else think that Giada has, like, the world's shortest arms? Or largest head? Or something. She's like a really, really pretty bobblehead that cooks delicious food.
