    OK, birthers, just admit it. You hate the idea of a black man as president. You. Are. Racist. Just say it! You're not fooling anyone. You did not raise the question with McCain, who was also born outside the Lower 48, because he is white. You lost the election and it's just eating you up. I get it. I understand seething. I seethed through eight years of Bush. But see, you lost this time around. It hurts, I know. But it's time to shut it. Because in the end, you do yourselves no favors trying to get the reasonable wing of the GOP to sign onto your crazy.

    Oh, and crazy woman screaming at Mike Castle in Delaware? Obama's grandfather served in WWII too. He IS the president and he IS American. So take your crazy and shove it.

    These birther stories keep making me flashback to that movie the Omen, you know that scene where the priest is talking about Damien and he goes, "His mother was a...." and then it makes scary music? What was his mother anyway? A demon? A dog? It's a moment like in the Neverending Story when the kid calls out his mom's name but you can't understand it. Bastian?

    @telecomic the thoughtful red panda: I watched her piece on-line last night, debunking "Uncle Pat's" rantings, and was even more impressed with her than I was before. She is so forward and straight-talking that I nominate her as a fitting replacement for Walter Cronkite. I do believe I trust her.

    More importantly, Megan and Jason brought up the most key thing in the "birther" clusterfuck: why, oh why, is the burden of "proof" not 100% of the time being placed on these crazy assholes?     I just don't understand the birther people...do they really think they are helping their team (which is presumably the Republicans)?

    @dianersb was bit by a zombie: I think they are just so, so upset by the fact that Obama was elected and all that represents (a step away from racism, a step towards a more progressive, inclusive society, a step away from Bush and his ilk) that they just can not stand it.

    The funny thing is that all of those steps forward would still have been taken even if their crazy theory was true.
