    I'm surprised because MTV kind of did this with the O.C. when creating Laguna Beach. And maybe it was better casting but I found it MUCH less boring (and I also thought the people were prettier to watch). It might also be that I'm no longer in high school, but these kids come off like someone hit them with the stupid stick.


    I come from money (not a lot, like these folks, but some, and now I'm a poor college student so money is a distant memory) and I knew in high school not to say things like, "I don't need to apologize for having money. It's good." or any of the craptastic things these kids spout.

    Yeesh. I'm pretty sure we all did and said a lot of stupid, awkward, pretentious, arrogant and douchebaggy things when we were teenagers. I'd probably be mortified by my high school self if I was confronted by it. It sucks that these kids have to do it with the cameras rolling.


    So many of the things they are doing are just textbook "I'm so important" kid stuff. I hope they grow out of it.

    Sebastian actually seemed really transparent and uncomfortable during a lot of the party scenes. And did anyone else catch -- oh I can't think of her name, the blonde senior girl -- chewing on her scarf in the car? She was absently chewing on it like a dog. Or a baby.

    This show is awful. I've already set my DVR to record every episode.

    Actually, I have it on pretty good authority that Fugu (blowfish) is not that good. It is really bland and rather flavorless. The thrill is in the fact that you could die from eating it (which very few people do), not in the taste. So in conclusion, PC is lying through his teeth, and thankfully those girls don't seem to be buying his "OMGZ! LOOK AT ME! I'M SO HIP AND EDGY AND COOL BECAUSE I'M A HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR AND I EAT BLOWFISH!!!!!!!!!!!" act either.


    Seriously, someone check the shed because I think a tool is missing.

    @CharlotteTrampling: This is tv, they are going to find the teens that make good tv. My friend who went to Spence is one of the sweetest people I know and I don't think she had a drop of alcohol before her 21st birthday.

    @CharlotteTrampling: @Lymed: Yeah - I went to Exeter, and while we had our share of douchebags, the vast majority of the kids (rich and not-so-rich) were fricking smart, hard-working, and pretty nice. It was a significantly less cliquey place than any public high school I know of.


    Douchiness is everywhere; it's just magnified when you a) have money, b) are on TV or c) both.

    Ya'll I said this yesterday but I'm just gonna repeat myself. Rich teenagers don't have the market cornered on experimenting with sex and drugs. Seriously do they think lower income teens are filling their time with like, farming or something? They're just hooking up in the basement, smoking stank weed and playing xbox. See? we're not so different!

    I watched about 8 minutes of this last night before being horrified. Somehow Teresa and her buhbies seemed like a safe, intelligent choice after watching these turds. What horrified/titillated me most is the fact that they are children, and children say incredibly stupid things that embarrass them greatly later in life. For these morons, it's on tape!

    These kinds of kids have been spoiled to such a degree that nothing phases them anymore. The parents lost (read gave up) control years ago.
