Math, math, math, I love you. Going back to school for an Engineering degree with a Statistics minor. I've always loved math. Well, actually, I loved all school subjects. I'm an all around geek. :) I have a Calculus II final next week. Yay! Differential equations and integrals and Lagrange multipliers!

This is stuff that is universal. The truth is, math is simply a tool, and it can be used for everything from becoming a savvier shopper to adjusting cookie recipes.

Umm, yeah... And calculating IPv4 subnets. And Using statistics to support poll data. And getting a better interest terms on car financing...

Variety is a pretty descriptive term... Some articles are OK, and some are completely inane.

I like math, and have very little aptitude for it. This is partially due to my tendency to transpose numbers (and letters, but it fucks up an equation a whole lot faster than a sentence, you know? And there's always spell-check). On the other hand, I think algebraically anyway (I was surprised it had to be introduced as a concept in school, as I thought that was how we were all doing our problems in our heads) and can do easy maths in my head--the nurses have me as their walking bmi calculator at work, which is long and tedious but simple.

Calculus is a big fat no.

Math was not my favorite school subject by any means, but a few years post-college when I had to re-take calculus to satisfy a grad school requirement, I found myself really enjoying it for once. It completely caught me by surprise. But somehow now, I am kind of fond of the symmetry of equations, the language of numbers... So strange coming from an English nerd!

Also, as much as I love her efforts to make math more appealing to girls, I hate that her book covers look like Seventeen. I understand why, but I hate that it had to be that way.

I once dated a math major and in hindsight, he was very socially awkward and rather mean.

Or I could be just jealous because I always excelled in creative writing and English and sucked at math. Team Azaz FTW!

Math really does solve social problems. I find my ball-busting abilities to be at their BEST when I can incorporate economic data and hockey stats that make pompous guys I'm talking to look like morons.

Seriously though, I really like how she has made math for girls her "thing". It is worthwhile and I commend her for it.

It's true! Math helped me solve teenage social problems like: How many more cases of beer are necessary to keep my guests from leaving my place to go to a cooler party? At what speed do I have to drive home in order to make my curfew? Or how many years do I have to wait before I can have sex with my much older boyfriend so that it isn't a crime? Thanks, Math!
