Fine, I'll share.

When I was 27, I had my AAA breasts augmented to a B cup. Nothing huge, nothing overly done.

But suddenly, I was able to buy bras in the grown-up department, pretty ones. I could buy bathing suits (I live in a beach area where we're in suits a good part of the year), and clothes? I could really expand my wardrobe!

I did it for me, not a guy. I never had a problem getting guys anyway. I felt so much better about myself, and didn't regret a thing.

Now, I'm 46, 50 pounds heavier and had 36 D's. I do not like them and wish I could go back to my B's. Perhaps it's time to make a concerted effort to lose weight?

I didn't feel like I wanted sex more or less after my surgery. I guess I'm still just left with the harsh reality that I can buy as much beauty as I please, but there is no plastic surgery for my brain.

Speaking of cosmetic surgery, this can of worms is begging me to crack it open. I'm seriously considering buccal fat removal because my cheeks make me look like a child. What is a feminist's proper stance on this shit?

NO ONE suggest the magical word of "choice" (it being my body, my face, and all) because obviously, I'm not in the apt mind-frame to choose anything. All I'm thinking is MUST. DESTROY. CHIPMUNK. CHEEKS.

@woomanizah: I don't like it when people are so quick to criticize those who have had plastic surgery, considering everyone has some sort of insecurity, and those who choose to have plastic surgery are just people who are choosing to do something about their insecurities. And I agree, if you personally don't think something about your appearance represents who you are, who are other people to tell you you're wrong for wanting to change it?

@woomanizah: I feel like I would have to do a survey of 30 people to see if it was all in my head because I get complexes about the most random stuff that doesn't exist. So maybe just check around first to make sure it's outside your head before you spend the money.

@woomanizah: Don't do it! I am all about plastic surgery (in the future, I dont have any now) but don't remove bucal fat. As you age, you lose this fat and can start to get a sunken look. Women pay thousands of dollars for injectables to put fat back INTO their cheeks, don't have it sucked out! I would also be worried that if you did this, it might look bizarre when you age. I don't know much about this procedure, but I would be worried that in 20 years you could end up looking lopsided or lumpy because you can't predict how you will naturally age versus what the procedure changed.

I would like to see this broken down by procedure and age group. Because I'd imagine an older woman getting a face lift would be more invested in getting back to the office than getting back in the sack.

@PhillyLass: The only bit of Nip/Tuck I ever saw was when a patient was supposedly sedated but wasn't actually and she was doing a voice over as they prepared to start and actually cut into her.

My friend recently had her breasts done even though she'd not a particularly sexual person & would just as soon do some gardening. For her, the real fix comes from having her beauty/sex appeal admired and from being an object of desire.

@ellaesther: I think in large part this can be true, and why aging is so scary for women. I don't think it's biological, I think we've been culturally programmed. Sure lots of women have tons of sex. Good for them. It doesn't change the fact that the quote resounds with many women.

I think that most women who have cosmetic surgery are not having vaginal reconstruction. Also, if they had a face lift they probably want to hide from the world.

As for Lipo, a gal's mouth still works, I think they know that, so ummm, if they dont wanna some sausage pounding into them they can just do other things.

As for me, I want to have sex, all the time 24/7 with a guy I really like. But that is probably because I orgasm ad infinitum (not clitoral) without much foreplay or anything. But I have yet to meet anyone like myself.

I would assume a key component to many people (not just women) getting off is not having to be embarrassed with an area they feel self conscious with. When I was chubbier I would worry more about how I looked, which would decrease the frequency of my orgasms if I worried too much.

Also, people usually feel awkward saying "How soon can I give a blow-j**" to a doctor etc.

Oh and I'm not angry with you. I have so many girlfriends that are the way you describe I can't downplay your generalization.

How/why is this surprising? I got my nose done nine years ago, and it was one of the best things I did for myself. I didn't do it to attract more men, or have more sex - I did it because I felt like my nose didn't fit my face - or me - and accordingly wanted one that did fit. I was very fortunate that everything went well and I was ecstatic w/the results. I agree plastic surgery is usually selfish, but it's never occurred to me that people do it to get more sex. If anything, I think vanity is the main impetus for most people's decision to have cosmetic surgery.

@shamlet96: I think that most people think that vanity = desire to get more sexual attention and that *that* = desire to have more sex.

But it's true that sometimes I'll do something like finally brush my hair of a Saturday morning (not quite plastic surgery, but still) because I'm so sick of seeing that mess in the mirror.
