    First and foremost, do NOT call the amazing Nona Hendryx and Sarah Dash "backup singers". They are accomplished front women in their own right, if not as widely known as Patti. These women were LaBelle. Just because the group had Patti's name, does not mean they were not equal members. Patti's just really really really loud. Second, Nona was always the most avant garde of the group, so if you're gonna give Patti a "good" just for being a diva, then give Nona one too... she's doing what she does best. Would you dare give Grace Jones such a rating? Never.

    Patti LaBelle lost me during "Clash of the Choirs" last year (me being one of the four people who watched the show.) It was supposed to be about making the choir sound good, but Patti hogged the air time and made the choir her backup singers. I think that's why she lost to Drew Lachay, who go out of the way and let his choir sing.


    While I loved her hit records, she's never been Aretha, and she never will be.

    Patti LaBelle is the strangest brush-with-celebrity I ever had in my life. She is the epitome of fabulous in every sense of the word; I love her unconditionally and for infinity-plus-one. They are all amazing.
