Sure, he may not always work perfectly, but PCs will put their heart and soul into having the very best.
PCs want the best graphics cards and processors to have the best possible performance for their users.
And, if you don't like something about them, you can upgrade what you want...

PC users seem to have to be quite vigilant against viruses, constantly updating their security. It's not really an issue with Macs (so far). Perhaps on a psychological level, this is reassuring. Women perhaps are wired to be concerned about "invasion" in a way- pregnancy, STDs, - women tend to be the more vigilant about this than their male partners. (Is there a male equivalent of a gynocologist?).
Perhaps the ease of not worrying anymore about such things is part of Macs' appeal, on some unconscious level, particularly for women.
Sheer speculation and thinking aloud, here. Just wondering.

I mean, I get your general point here, but I don't see why this would be a gendered trait, particularly as there is currently no perception that falling prey to a computer virus is a moral failing (or really a failing of any kind, for that matter).
It's also worth noting that there is no indication from this article (or anything else I've seen, although I'm open to evidence to the contrary) that indicates that a higher percentage of female purchases are of Apple products as compared to male purchases. People are buying macs/iphones/ipods at an increasing rate, yes, but this article is just speculating that people buy macs because some people are women and those people prefer simplicity. There is no actual evidence that Apple's popularity is due specifically to female buyers, just a (potentially spurious) correlation drawn between Apple's success and the fact that 2/3 of consumer electronics purchases are influenced by women.

Your observation about male psychology and digital obsession with security is so right on. In contrast, the Mac does say "Play" with its carefully calibrated colour palates and round edged friendly titanium.
Not to mention that Apple networking tv advert where the apple printer is represented by a female, who pulls a print out of her bottom... oh dear. That was a really bad idea.

Women are the ones who "receive" from men, they are inherently going to be more mindful of unwanted invasion. Because they will be the ones to bear the consequences. I realize I'm just speculating aloud, but yes, women care more about foreign entities "entering" their bodies, or in a displaced sense, their computers too. It's just hard-wired biology, and yes it is rather specific to gender. And as for "moral failing", I have absolutely no idea of what you're talking about, I didn't say a word about morals, or failings.

What the fuck ever!
My dad can't even open a zip file, and has only recently figured out how to copy and paste, I help my male cousins with their computer problems, I can compete with almost any of my male friends in my computer knowing prowess (minus the cs majors ) and I know how to put together and take apart a camera, and a computer. Plenty of girls can figure out any electronic product. The fact that these products should be user friendly, and be accessable to anyone should not factor into it. So electronics are deoderant now? "Strong enough for a man but made for a woman?" Bish please.

Furthermore, in my house (three daughters, mum and dad) it is only my dad who cannot figure out the remotes.
