Former Playgirl Editor Schools Fox News On What Women Want |

They have a lot of funny people on the show from time to time. Of course I never ever stay up late enough to watch it, but the old stoner devilchyld used to enjoy this show a shit ton.
I think she handled herself well, and I agree with everyone else he came off a tool. But, that's pretty typical of him.

It makes sense, business-model wise, for PlayGirl to cater a bit to gay men--and not because women aren't visually stimulated, but because men aren't quite so ashamed of their porn habits as women are. I mean, I'm getting over it but I do feel a little embarassed when I go onto Playgirl.com.

Women don't get visually stimulated. Yeah. Keep telling yourselves that, guys.

Also, one time an anthropology professor asked the class, "Are women less visual, or are we just given less to look at?" Great point.

Calling Playgirl "gay" sounds like a lot of anti-feminism sour grapes (so what if the guys did, whatever stokes their furnace). I'd bet a lot of lesbians have (and still do) enjoyed Playboy over the years, but you don't hear of it being tarred with the same brush - heh, that might make it even hawter for the guys. Bah, male double standards.
I think it would be very cool if PlayGirl is going by the wayside because "women don't need it anymore". Can the same be said of Playboy?

As for Playgirl, I've always found it a bit patronizing.

I can think of another sh-word. With his personality, he should be selling cars.
Oh yeah, I guess he'd have to actually work to do that these days.

also even if that's because it's more for gay men... there are lots of misogynistic gender tropes being played with in gaytown too.

i'll weigh in as a woman who isn't automatically horny just by viewing a picture of a naked man. i'll make an immediate judgement as to whether or not i think the guy's attractive, but that doesn't automatically translate into horniness. in fact it never has for me. i look at attractive men the way i look at other attractive sights~~ flowers, shoes, trees, cars, anything. i don't personalize it into some fetish for myself. i'm a designer so i'm always "looking" at basically everything, but it isn't driven by sexuality. and doesn't convert into horniness.
more than anything, i just don't get automatic sexual objectification. anything that smacks of a mindless knee-jerk reaction, i tend to not be attracted to that.
