God I miss field hockey. My ex used to make fun of me as I kept my stick and ball and brought them with me whenever I moved. I was like you never know when an impromptu field hockey game may begin! I want to be ready

Despite playing hockey at one of my schools, I have no idea of the rules. I just remember being stuck at one end of the pitch and borrowing another hockey stick to form make shift stilts to keep me out of the mud. I suppose I was lucky. In classic English schoolgirl stories, girls always ended up getting their ankles broken playing hockey, that’s when they weren’t swooning over the female hockey captain.

I went to a women's college, so naturally we played Field Hockey (though just as an intramural type thing--class competitions). One year, one of the ladies on my team had to be pulled because she was high-sticking with uncomfortable frequency. While bedecked in pearls. God, I loved college.

@BabyJane: Yeah, I had to give it up when the traumatologist said something like "maybe you should stick to tennis"

I broke my pinky and kept playing.

My Achilles' heel is severely damaged

I had a nasty mid calf injury

I still love the game.
