Adding to the chorus of joy that surrounds a return of Crappy Hour.
I'm going to sit here in awe of Megan and Spencer for awhile. I spent a lot of time yesterday and early this morning pissed off and frustrated with the news. Somehow it is easier to grok calmly if it's being fed to me in this manner.
@SomeAuthorGirl: seconded. it is a lot easier to accept the morning news when it's being discussed by two intelligent, humorous people. my other choice for morning discourse of current events is my local news channel....and no mention of iran yet, just dogs on surfboards and subsequent flaccid banter from the weather and traffic dorks. so, thanks for return of crappy hour!!
Megan, while I'm ecstatic to see the return of Crappy Hour, it's very, very disturbing to be confronted with the mental image of Edwards tugging one out at 7:30a.m. Won't you think of the West Coast readers?
I'm sorry, is every Republican with their panties in a bunch about us not getting involved in the Iranian situation straight-up stupid? Do they not get that if we get involved, it's the perfect excuse for Ahmedinejad to bring the extra crazy and decry everyone protesting as tools of the great Western devil before gassing the streets? I hate that they want help that we can't give, but the only way a new power in Iran will survive is if they come into it purely on their own, without our help. (The same goes for you, Ahmadinejad: we know you're importing Basij from out of Iran because they're speaking in ARABIC, numbnuts.)
Ipomoea is a joyful girl: in short, every republican who is getting all hot and botheres for intervention is a moron, yes. but they're so fucked on discussing domestic issues in a cognizant manner that it makes sense that they're leaping on a situation that exists as a sort of theoretical construct to them (and their constituents), so instead of actually having to discuss meaningful policies and practical solutions to this fucked up mess we are in, they can concentrate on blathering a bunch of hot air about interventions that they know are not possible, probable, or even remotely intelligent.
dont get me wrong, here. i believe what is happening in iran is momentous and i hope it somehow turns out for the best. i just hate listening to opportunistic political grandstanding.
@amoureuse is a second class citizen: But, but! They need Western Democracy! No, they need AMURICAN FREEDUMS. It's not fair if we get to deny our citizens equal rights if THEY DON'T GET TO DO IT TOO, in the name of Jesus, of course. Allah is evil.
@MissSkittles is not your kind of lady: Ah, yes, the hostage crisis during which we SOLD bombs to Iran in exchange for the return of the prisoners. Way to be smart, America.
Even if the government says that the ballot box stuffing is both legal and inconsequential, they can't really ignore the paper that was published entitled Preliminary Analysis of the Voting Figures in Iran's 2009 Presidential Election. It is in opposition with many of the things they claimed enabled Ahmadinejad to win by such a landslide. For instance, "that the countryside always votes conservative is a myth."
Thanks for posting the Bomb Iran video. I'm sick of McCain pontificating on the situation in Iran and criticizing the Obama Administration's response. The video shows where John McCain's interests truly lie-- and it is not with the Iranian people.
I gave up on Morning Joe when I realized that my local news is a pleasant dorkfest with accurate weather.
As for Iran, I swear I've learned more about that country in the last 2 days than I have in my whole life, and I still barely know what you're talking about up there. With all those links my morning to-do list at work is positively screwed.
'We can fill up this entire chat with things that John Edwards shouddadid but the truth is then you've got women agreeing to fuck you because you're doing the work of the people, the sex seems so virtuous, like a just reward, the heavens affirming your essential righteousness.'
Okay first of all, Avigdor Lieberman is in NO WAY representative of Jewish men. So STOP THIS NONSENSE. We have plenty of hotties, from Jon Stewart to Sacha Baron Cohen to Seth Rogen, amirite ladies??
@SomeAuthorGirl: Not to mention the long-legged attorney at work who is much to young for me. He gets my sense of humor...and we LAUGH. *sigh* I've been in love with Jewish men since Asher Lev.
@Lucille van Pelt: I will add the Israeli soldiers, but you'll have to pry Sacha Baron Cohen out of my cold dead hands. When he's not playing some crazy character, the man is 6"5 of Semitic sex.
@dreamweave: I need audio to read. Very loud audio. I shout along with the words in books as I read them. I have personally been banned from all libraries in the state of Illinois.
@dichotomy: There's an internal scroll bar and you should be able to click in the window and just Page Down if you can't see it... It's actually static, since it's a transcript.

It's nice to see stories about how some soldiers are trying to help the Afghanis. All to often you only hear about the bad eggs.
Also, I now may have a bit of a crush on Capt. Harrison.

Look at Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan,... US intervention really helped there.
