I misread the JLo quote as: ""I started to wonder," Lopez said, "what if I couldn't afford a doctor, or receive the medicines, the pedicures?" and I thought, I want to go to whatever hospital she's donating money to! That sounds amazing! But no. I'll just have to keep waiting for a hospital to give me a pedi in the waiting room.
just have to say that, for all the independence madonna supposedly represents, she seems oddly unable to exist without a man in her life. i don't think she's been out of some kind of couple situation for more than a week or two her entire adult life.
I'd love to feel sorry for Jerry Hall, except she knew he was Mick Jagger when she started dating him and humiliated Bryan Ferry when she dumped him for Jagger.
@Macloserboy: And at the beginning of her relationship with Mick, she allegedly took revenge on him for his cheating by having an affair with Robert Sangster. Who was married at the time. So, yeah, not much sympathy really.
@cellardoor: Ok, I'm breaking a rule here by asking something unrelated to the post. Who was it that said "cellar door" was the most beautiful word in the English language? Was that Nabokov?
I tried to look it up, but my server is acting all wacky today. I can't stop pondering this question. :)
@battleaxonista: Do not TOUCH Spanx. Spanx make it possinble to wear a silk dress and eat and drink as you please all the while looking like you have a smooth, flat stomach. If you look like a sausage you are wearing the wrong size.
Oh Natalie Portman, you're kind of not a good person. I was torn between thinking you were OK but kind of pretentious or just pretentious and annoying. I think this tips you over to the latter category, if you are "seeing" Mr. Penn.
And Mr. Penn, you are very talented. But kind of a jerkwad.
@meg9: The Kabbalah thing is a little kooky, and her "look at me I am wearing bondage things O HAI HERE IS MY CROTCH!111" poses are...um, a bit wearying at this point. But, all that aside, I think Madonna was rejected by the adoption agency, right? It's not like she's further endangering Mercy by having a relationship with a guy who is a grown and consenting adult.
Yeah, she's a little nutty, and I'm not a particularly big fan of hers, but apparently this Jesus dude means something to her, and just because she's older than he is doesn't mean she's somehow misbehaving or acting inappropriately by seeing him. Most 50-year-old women are pressured in this society to just behave and settle down and act "their age" (i.e., appropriately quiet and/or invisible.) I say she can do as she likes.
@missbananafish: Someday I hope that all the women who pursed their lips and complained about her not growing old appropriately (which, by the way, is no different from those who pursed their lips at her when she was young) are subjected to the exact same pressures. I'd love to hear some hypocritical squeals about how not all 50-year-olds are done with sex, music, dancing, and hot young dudes.
Sienna Miller is doing work in the DRC - I'm very impressed. The country is more fucked up than anything I've ever heard of. The victims of the civil war need so much help - its hard to even know where to start.
And its dangerous just to visit. I'm amazed and appreciative that she's there, getting word out. I was actually bitching last night that hardly any celebs or, more importantly, govts. want to touch on the cluster-fuck of the Congo.
@fluxus flucker: no kidding! And with the global recession, it's the most vulnerable, like the victims of said cluster fuck, who will suffer the most as governments withdraw what little money or resources they have there and places like the DRC. I was impressed by her, too, especially from all we read about her, she sounds flaky as hell. Clearly, tabloid journalism is not how I should judge people... ahem. heh.
@fluxus flucker: Well, Ben Affleck, Ashley Judd and Eve Ensler have all engaged publicly on Eastern DRC issues. I also wouldn't say that it is dangerous just to visit. What makes you say that?

Also, I am glad Boy George looks so healthy and well. It makes me very happy.

I've been over madonna for the last 10 years at least, but it would be so neat if she would grow old gracefully.
