    I may, someday down the road a bit, put the first
    season in my Netflix queue but I won't be wasting

    So in that sense, suspension of disbelief is required for enjoyment.


    That's exactly how I feel about Cody's teenager dialogue in Juno - last time I said so, I got a smackdown here on Jez for being a AICN fanboy (I'm not). It's great dialogue, but it assumes a cognizance, fluency, and ease that doesn't exist outside of fiction. Not quite as powerful as the "nadsat" of A Clockwork Orange, but relevant and skillfully wrought.

    They actually call it Dissociative Identity Disorder now. Not multiple personality. Definitely screwed that up more than once on a psych test.

    I have an aunt with multiple personalities. The family certainly isn't this casual when she switches, but you do kind of get used to it eventually and learn to approach her different personalities with the appropriate attitude.
