My super sweet 16? Made me want a vascetomy.
The Hills? Because people born wealthy with copious free time to shop and tan are very relateable to teens making 6.50 an hour at a mall in Utica.
Even "The Real World" stopped featuring actual humans years ago, going for various shades of drunken muscle-heads with the token GLBTQ person tossed in.
There's a reason "True Life" has such appeal. Seeing someone you can relate to, someone you can connect with, that's really important to young adults (see YA fiction for about a million examples) to experience.
As for music? Internet killed the video star a long way back.

If you don't like Hortense, why don't you fuck off?

But I do like Cribs, because I enjoy seeing how morons spend their money. They'll all be broke in 5 years anyway.

Yeah for the internet, I guess. And satellite radio.

I like German techno and Russian punk, though.

I also want Jesse Camp back. I'm sorry, but I do.

Also, why has Daria not been released on DVD? I would buy the shit out of that. And you would think a money making machine like MTV would want those kinds of profits.

In other countries though, they can show everything, videos and all. Stupid America.

If HGTV were to do something on mansions/apartments that are decorated really well and have some bad ass stuff in it, I'd watch that. But some sports person bragging about their tacky crap? Feh.

If "being socially responsible" were financially lucrative on a micro level, social workers would be making six figure incomes and derivatives traders would be applying for food stamps.
