    As much as I despise Carrie Prejean and believe her tongue should be cut out, I kinda feel for that girl (or at least her mother) to be in the room when that was shown.     I do not understand the unlocked doors of the rich and famous. I probably have 1/419232938457923948234 of what they do and I am so paranoid about keeping the door locked. For me it is less about someone taking my stuff and more about the creep factor of someone walking among my stuff without me knowing, or watching me sleep, or freaky scary events like that. They must have security or something set up, though? I just don't get it. #britneyspears

    @Lola Lotus: I don't get that either. I have a friend who leaves her door unlocked when she leaves her place, and I've never understood that. She locks it when she's there for the night (though when I asked her she said she sometimes forgets). My friend claims that nothing bad has ever happened, and thinks I'm a little paranoid for worrying that a creeper could get in and hide in her closet and do something terrible to her when she comes home. *sigh* Maybe it's a weird way to flirt with danger or tell the world that you're a rebel? I don't know, but it's unsettling. *sigh* #britneyspears

    @scandalouskiki: i always think like this too - it bothers me that maintenence has access to keys to apartments at our development cause what if one comes in and hides and waits for us to go to bed?

    however i'm especially freaked out by the thought of someone hiding in my apartment and waiting until i was asleep to attack me because that actually happened to my cousin. i don't know all the details but i'm pretty sure a family friend raped her for years (threatening to kill her if she told) and would often break into her place and wait hours after she got home to attack her.

    my friends always tell me how paranoid i am but there are some sick people out there #britneyspears

    I'm in my mid-40s and once encountered Sapphire when she was giving a poetry reading at an Ivy League university. I smiled and said hello because it was so great to see another black woman in such a monoracial place. She looked right through me and walked on by--we were in an empty hallway. I know that authors bring their "stuff" to their work, but it's literally colored how I view the book and the film. By the way, I'm biracial, and the experience was hurtful and really resonated with me. I do think this movie will attract some people who have very complicated issues with race and class, both black and white. I don't think the movie or book should be given a pass, just because the protagonist represents a horror show of black womanhood. We are all smarter than that.

    The last couple of movies about which I remember reading this type of rantage about someone's life getting "shoved in our faces" were Thelma & Louise and The Accused. Oh -- and Do the Right Thing.

    I can't imagine any of that is an accident.
