I feel like Rupert Everett has a bit of a Daffyd syndrome. He thinks he's the only gay in the village. But come on, this is Hollywood, man. Your not the first gay guy to ride in this rodeo.
I usually watch the Oscars and get somewhat excited about them, but the second I read the word "musical" I checked the TiVo to see what else might be on on Sunday.
This may be the first time in my life that I am excited to have the Hallmark channel. Well, maybe second. I did get pretty excited when I found out the ran episodes of Columbo.
But as a Smithie I am def going to watch this because the Ada Comstock scholars were some of the bombest ladies on campus. In my graduating class we had and EIGHTY-FOUR-year-old woman finishing her degree. She had dropped out around WWII to get married and felt like she needed to finish what she had started.
Am I the only one who could care less about the Oscars and really any of the award shows? They are actors, who cares. It's not like they are winning the Nobel prize.
@SweetSerengeti: I could not care less about who wins, and I disagree with the outcome about 90% of the time, but I love Oscar night. It's my super bowl.
The extended Winslet family: the latest people to dump on Kate due to her success. Seriously, what is with people and Kate Winslet? She's an incredibly talented and dedicated actress and now she's suddenly some awful person because it. She can't seem to catch a break or even enjoy her success because someone is right there to criticize her or throw it in her face. And the comment from her mother? AWFUL!
All of a sudden, Kate Winslet is bugging me, and I don't know why. I have this new, involuntary reflex where I roll my eyes if I see her name.
And I'm holding my thumbs for Meryl Streep to win, anyway. She hasn't won since '83, bitches! This is her FIFTEENTH nomination! C'mon, Mary Louise, my girl!
@Raspberry Swirl is moist and dirty: Didn't someone say the USWeekly site posted it next to a picture of her as a child and under the heading "Happy Birthday Rihanna"?
I want to feel sorry for Usher's wife, but I just can't. There's no reason she was in friggin' Brazil for plastic surgery unless even LA doctors told her "No." And to find out it was for lipsuction... I hate eating right and working out as much as anyone, but not so much I'll risk death instead.
@Macloserboy: Also, she allegedly didn't even tell him that she was getting it done. He found out via the phone call telling him that she was in cardiac arrest.
I'd like to know how much money is in her bank account that she doesn't have to tell her husband she's getting such an expensive surgery.
@arodriguez.romero: Like I said, I want to feel sorry for her, but this just comes down choosing to be cut open rather than doing the stairmaster and giving up Cheetos. And did she think he wasn't going to notice the bandages!?!
@Macloserboy: I have that discussion with my cousin all the time, making your arguments. She visits Ecuador for work all the time, sometimes extending her stay...she hates the gym...
@Macloserboy: Brazil is actually suppose to have better plastic surgeons than in the US. The facilities are state of the art and spa like. A vacation is planned into the recovery time.
It's a myth that the US has the best medical care. We are actually pretty shoddy.
@SweetSerengeti: I will second this. Plastic surgery in Brazil is actually considered to be a lot better internationally. I would totalyl go back to Brazil to get work done, if I were looking to get work done.

Is it just me, or does it seem like this year's Oscar ceremony is going to be disastrous, save for Heath Ledger's inevitable victory? The Academy is just desperate at this point for ratings.
@Understater: Which is why Mickey Rourke is a shoo-in for Best Actor. And, you know, he deserves it, but no way is Pitt going to bring teh crazy in an acceptance speech like Rourke will.
I kinda hate it when people think L.A. is only about the entertainment industry.
And if Heath Ledger's daugther wants to go into the entertainment industry there are forces more powerful than Michelle Williams that will allow her to go there, no matter where she lives.
@Devonna: In L.A. she would always be the daughter of a man who died too soon... even to strangers. That's concentrated pressure, right there. I think Michelle is being sensible.
