Tyra had to get up and talk to her producers to ask what to say, because she couldn't think for herself. That would have been nice to show on camera.
On the "art" of porn filmmaking:
It's so easy for people to fall into the routine of shooting something because it sells. I don't mean that in a sexual context. I mean that, you know, these five positions are going to be shot and we're going to use four Kinos and put you on a couch. Kino lights can be really nice. But that's why half the time porn doesn't look so nice. They blast everything out. It comes down to commitment and time, and a lot of people lack that creativity.
I also pass notes to celebrities that say "I like you, do you like me." In fact, I don't only do that to celebrities, I do it to most people I meet who have cute outfits. It just gets me the side-eye, never a star actor in my strangely-titled movie. I must be doing it wrong.

@mommymash: i only meant to open up an honest dialogue about why we, as women, react so strongly to snarking about our bodies yet allow and even encourage the same thing to happen to men. i didn't intend to come across as inflammatory or insulting, and i don't think i did come across that way; i'm frustrated i was disemvoweled but i'm not sure what i did wrong. ???
Adam was my choice, but I'm glad he didn't win so he doesn't have to release that God-awful single by Kara whatshername. That song was the biggest stinker I've ever heard and both guys looked embarrassed to be singing it. I think he'll have a career after this anyway, most runnerups do well if not better than the winners.
@Ascendo_tuum: Just had to add, although it's a little snarky, what is up with Kris Allen singing out the side of his mouth? Creeps me out for some reason.
I clicked the LOL link for the Rihanna item and was, "Oh, there's Dodai looking all cute as usual! And, uh, some other people..." As far as I'm concerned, you were the STAH in that photo, honey.
You say "drunk and high and talking about Hitler" like it's not something we've ALL done. I mean, most of us probably stopped doing it shortly after we became of legal drinking age, but I've always believed Tarantino to be the platonic form of arrested development, so there's that.
@Ms Meghan: Oh, misogyny and arrested development go hand in hand. This is the case with Tarantino, Apatow, all those dudes. They still think girls have cooties, it's just the grown up version of that manifested as brutality/gorey deaths and date rape/systemized devaluing, respectively.
@kelsium: I'm conflicted about Tarantino. I DO feel like he has an air of misogyny about him and he's been connected with really awful guys like Eli Roth and Robert Rodriguez. Yet, he gave us Kill Bill, which is full of bad-ass female characters, and Death Proof, which started off awful but ended with women taking their vengeance. At the same time, these movies still glorify violence against women (through the actual depiction of the acts) and typically portray men as out-of-control, violent and/or manipulative. I can't recall enough of his other work to really know if it's similar or not.
What are some examples of misogyny you have seen in Tarantino's work or heard about in his personal life? I was trying to explain to my boyfriend why he *seems* like a misogynist, to me, but I couldn't come up with anything other than that he includes characters and situations in his films that are overtly, violently, misogynist and that he has awful friends.
@Ms. Audrey Horne: I think that inextricably linking violence to sex and women to violence is inherently misogynist. I don't think you can get around that. Even if you have strong females, their strength is in their violence in his work, you know? That, and I just think that his portrayals of violence against women are... loving in their detail and brutality, which is sick and creepy. Actually, here is someone who says it much much better than I: [tigerbeatdown.blogspot.com]
@Ms. Audrey Horne: a friend and ex-coworker of mine dated QT for a while and because of that I did spend some amount of time with him. He was perfectly nice, if not self-absorbed and really geeky. He basically reminded me of one of my geek friends who suddenly had all the money in the world and fame and wasn't sure what to do with it. What I found sort of astounding about hanging out with him was how damn annoying people were -- because seriously everyone would walk up to him and say "OMG, I LOVE THAT PULP FICTION" (this was back in the day when it had recently come out) and after about 5 hours of that, I wanted to stabby anyone who came near the table.
@tomatoheart: White douchebags who "prefer" Asian women really, really stick in my craw. I can't help but feel about most of them the way I feel about my BFF's angry, George Costanza lookalike dad who consistently kept Asian mistresses the whole time we were growing up. Her mom is an amazingly talented musician and looks like Debbie Harry, which doubles his douchebaggery.
I'm glad you have positive news to share about QT. I still kind of wish we could work harder to change some of the shit that sucks about our society by changing the way we present certain subjects in the media. I feel like QT's work is hurting this goal much more than it's helping.
What city were you in where all these people were approaching him? I certainly don't live on either of the coasts, but I can't imagine ever feeling like it would be appropriate to approach a celebrity just out living their life. I guess people must think a quick compliment won't bother anyone, but they apparently have no clue how many people are thinking the exact same thing.
I really wish I didn't have a bizarre fear of things coming to life in museums. Everything I hear about Night at the Museum and its sequel sounds amazing. However, I was scarred as a child by that Sesame Street movie, based in a museum, with things coming to life, and I haven't been able to watch things like it since. Sigh.
I know that we need to make holidays like Memorial Day and Veterans' Day more than just another chance to buy things on sale.
Thank you, Kim Cattrall. I also come from a proud military family and don't think taking two days out of our year to thank those who served is asking too much.
@AtomiClash: I bet if she was fired for her scientology I suspect it would be, not because of her beliefs per se, but becauses because she would have been expected to try and recruit new members into the cult.
