Oh good! I mean, I fear that I sound ridiculous sometimes. Or at least overzealous. Or deeply over-earnest, and my post-Watergate childhood demands that I fight against that.
But honestly, I'm a sap, and I should just admit it. Yay for a world that is better than it used to be! Say I!
(On a related note I just finished Team of Rivals [let me know what you think of it!], and dude, every time Lincoln went wandering down the street to his Secretary of State's house, I thought of our current first family and their security detail.... The man had ONE bodyguard, and that body guard had the night off when Lincoln went to Ford's Theater that night...! Had the night OFF! But I digress).

I agree! I am a bit younger than you methinks, but only a bit, and I grew up during the madness of the Reagan years. I too am a sap that is thrilled that the world is better than it used to be in some important ways!
My book comes in a few days, I will PM you and let you know --- so stoked. :D
