Last night at the Council of Fashion Designers of America, designers and celebrities hit the red carpet in ensembles both incredibly fashionable and incredibly ugly.

It was around 26° last night when the amfAR New York Gala kicked off Fall 2013 Fashion Week. For some attendees, it was important to be somewhat weather-appropriate. Other folks just went right ahead and wore sheer dresses and showed plenty of skin, hypothermia (and good taste) be damned.

The amFAR New York Inspiration Gala at The New York Public Library brought out many of the world's most inspirational: Cyndi Lauper, Kylie Minogue and Ricky Martin, to name a few. So, yes, the clothes were absurd:

You know it's fab when you see Anna Wintour and the Olsens. And that it's bizarre when you see Johnny Depp, Patti Smith, and Danny DeVito. "The Museum of Modern Art Film Benefit: A Tribute To Tim Burton" was both.
