Parker is seriously reaching. Liz Cheney is in no way more moderate than her father, who is a black hole of evil. And Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachman are/were elected officials who wield, shudderingly, more power than Meghan McCain and her twittery fingers. Meg Whitman and Carly Fiorina are banking on nonexistent voting records (as in, they never even voted, let alone vote as legislators) and previous jobs as CEOs for their appeal. That didn't work for Mitt Romney either.
I give Parker credit for recognizing early that Palin was spectacularly unqualified to hold even the office she had when she was nominated for VP, but either she really doesn't recognize how far into the toilet the GOP is on reaching out to any but the most conservative women, or she's whistling in the dark and hoping for daylight. I've a feeling she'll be waiting awhile. #republicanwomen
They're more than decoys. They're losers. Weak bait.
And Michelle Bachmann/Sarah Palin are at LEAST as disgusting as Bush. You got the "batshit" part right on Bachmann; she isn't just an anti-choice member of the GOP, she's one of it's highly visible grotesques. That they think they vadges will put a nice woman's touch on the worst of the worst in the GOP (that "worst of the worst" now seems to dictate the party's ideology and platforms)....makes them despicable and sleazy. #republicanwomen
I have to say that Megan McCain's latest picture she posted of twitter of her boobs exploded over a tight tanktop was bizarre. It seemed very immature and "look at me!" Also, she sounds like an idiot when she talks...but at least the substance of what she has to say is more sane than the rest of them. #republicanwomen
@JinxyMcDeath: I call bullshit on the Megan McCain love. She is the classic parental coattail rider, if her dad were an actor instead of a politician she'd be dipping her toes into Hollywood. That doesn't mean she knows what she's talking about and I don't appreciate her acting like she does. She needs to disappear and read up on her info before trying to be the face of anything because I'm sick of her "oh, I'm just a pretty blonde" schtick everytime someone calls her on her crap. #republicanwomen
Meg Whitman's voting record is atrocious, how she can ask anyone to vote for her is beyond me.
Carly Fiorina's campaign website doesn't even include any of her issue positions and she was terrible at running HP (during her time as CEO, stock prices dropped about 60%).
Meghan McCain is a joke, the classic example of someone only being famous because of their parents.
@7states: This summary completes me (except I'll excuse McCain's nepotistic rise to fame on account of the need to have 1 semi-rational woman in the GOP). And you hit the nail on the head with Whitman's voting record: I don't know how anyone could elect someone to a government post when that someone has barely even participated in democracy before. It's beyond insane to me. Also, Fiorina's campaign is a total sham because she invented charities to make her seem like a better candidate and she believes that her history as a CEO gives her an advantage over other politicians. Cuckoo. #republicanwomen
@JessickerFletcher: If you haven't gotten off your ass long enough to vote, don't expect other people to get off theirs to vote for you. It's pretty simple. #republicanwomen
This in no way diminishes my inexplicable love of Meghan McCain, but she has repeatedly said she's pro-life, including this week on her Twitter (SHUT UP), explaining it as part of the motivation behind one of her tattoos. While I am excited to see someone with a bankable Republican name speaking out against homophobia and for comprehensive sex-ed and affordable birth control, I am hesitant to call her completely lady-friendly simply because she is pro-life.
I admit I will probably buy her book when it comes out just so I can try and figure out what her motivation is behind it and how intensely pro-life she is-- is it a personally anti-choice, politically pro-choice thing, or is it a "carry the baby that baby jesus gave you regardless of circumstances" thing? #republicanwomen

The GOP will have a hard time bringing moderates over to its side as long as they continue to court the religious right. It's going to take more than a handful of visible women to undo the anti-woman, anti-gay, anti-reason damage caused by that pairing.
And really, I don't even understand why the GOP puts so much effort into keeping the RR on its side. I mean, what are they going to do - vote for Lyndon LaRouche? Vote DEMOCRAT? As if. #republicanwomen
"ready to roll back some of the GOP's more woman-hating policies"
Okay, honest question here: Besides the pro-life platform (which I disagree with the fact that it's a "woman-hating" policy, but I understand how it could be construed that way), what other platforms of the Republican Party are anti-women? #republicanwomen
@lyra31: For me, it's not just that the Republican party is anti-woman, it's that they're anti-everyonewhoisn'twhitechristianandmo.... #republicanwomen
@wtfox?!: I can't stand Republicans because they're always anti-minority and then have the nerve to support that view by saying, "well, democracy's about the majority." Our forefathers believed in the tyranny of the majority, you daft wankers (when angry, I often bust out the cockney accent). #republicanwomen
I think American women have shown pretty clearly that they can't be "lured" into the Republican party merely because the GOP slaps some ovaries front and center. Even ovaries as gosh-darn outspoken as a certain Alaskan.
That said, I'm rooting for McCain, in particular. Yes, she's young and inexperienced, and yes, her prominence is due to her famous last name. But any time someone prominent comes forward and says, "Hey, you can be conservative and not also be afraid of sex or gay people" it's a step in the right direction.
Were it not for the Republican party's misogyny, homophobia, racism, and religious intolerance, I might be inclined to vote for them. That sounds like a joke, but I'm dead serious -- I'm a big fan of conservative domestic policy and limited government. Too bad the GOP's more interested in telling me what to do with my sex organs than in earning my vote. #republicanwomen
When your basic party platform is misogyny, hate and lower taxes, then you have a tough road to hoe. I'm not sure how far these brave ladies will ever get in this generation. The racist/sexist morons will have to die off I think before a genuine shift can happen in the Republican party. For me, I'm fairly fiscally conservative, but I just could never vote for a party that, at its core, thinks I am lesser-than. #republicanwomen
So in the Women Conservative Calendar, Bachmann is November. Cause nothing says "Thanksgiving" and warm happy sharing like Michele Bachmann. #republicanwomen
@curiousgeorgiana: I prefer to think of November as the time of the year when all the fields lie fallow after having been picked of all the useful crops with only the detritus of the harvest lying and rotting in the fields. So, in that scenario? I like her for November. #republicanwomen
I've been thinking for a year or so that Michele Bachmann and Sarah Palin are engaged in a secret battle to see which of their Andy Kaufman-like performance pieces will get them the most attention. They're not crazy people, they're COMEDIANS.
Thinking about it like this makes me slightly less likely to wallow in despair every time one of them pops up on my TV.
Which is all to say: having crazy women in your crazy leadership doesn't make your party any less crazy. #republicanwomen
@Dodgergirl: Okay, so I glanced quickly at your response and saw "Michele Bachmann and Sarah Palin are engaged." Wouldn't that be the best final act of their bizarre performance art lives? #republicanwomen
As long as the GOP thinks it is just fine and dandy to tell a woman that she should be "put in her place" I don't see any hormonal shift happening in the near future. #republicanwomen
