    my public service announcement of the day: if you live, work, or play with/around people with compromised immune systems (elderly, babies, people with immune deficiencies) PLEASE DO NOT GET THE NASAL SPRAY VACCINES (as shown above). they could make your friend/family member/loved one very ill.

    that being said, please DO get the shot-in-the-arm kind.

    @Brigit: The nasal spray is actually a live strain of the virus instead of a dead strain. It offers better protection for those receiving it. My 5 and 3 year old's just had it today. It was so much better than the shot--they barely blinked. CDC says the FluMist strain is live but weakened, and cannot cause the flue virus.

    @I believe in peace, bitch: Unfortunately, the CDC is wrong about the ability of the vaccine to transmit the virus. Live (even if weakened) vaccines can and do transmit the virus to others. It was a major problem with the polio vaccine for decades (into the 21st century) when it was still a live-virus form -- plenty of people caught polio from others who had been vaccinated.

    Please, please, please refuse to have anything to do with this flu vaccine. Not only your own life, but those of others around you could depend on it. #swinefluvaccine
