Meghan McCain Talks Sex, Marriage With Colbert |

You don't think you should have the right to kill your (born) children, do you? To her it's the same thing.

Also, I think that she is doing the pro-life thing in the "right way." I'm not 100% sure on her stance on abortion, but she has the right idea that if you don't like abortion, then teach kids to not get pregnant.
Logic. Who knew?

Great - you don't hate gay people. Why do you stay in a party that continues to treat homosexuals like second class citizens?

I certainly agree with you though, I find her very problematic.

One of my dear friends used to work for the RNC, and apparently they'd constantly wonder why they didn't have the African American vote, given the closer match of their respective social values. I love her, but I said blankly: your party harbors bigots.

@Erda: I'm originally from Michigan, too! I agree with you that the "Black people are conservative!" view is reductive, but frankly, I just think the fact that socially conservative African Americans tend to vote Democrat anyhow gives me hope in basic human intelligence. It's a continual head-scratcher for me that so many poor white people vote Republican.

It's a very recent tendency. Back in the day the Republican platform had little to do with a conservative social agenda.

I'm not jumping on the "Meghan McCain is awesome" bandwagon any time soon. She's just as much a hypocrite as, well, most Republicans.

Of course, right now I don't hold out much hope for them, seeing as how the party gets more wackadoodle by the day, and I'm pretty much good with Obama's plans as of now.

Although, if anyone has actual links to her talking about abortion more in depth-- I would love to read them.

-Being anti-choice
-Believing in the Republican party
Although, at least she justifies the former by claiming it's an inherent part of the latter. But considering how the rest of the GOP has reacted to her, I have no idea why she's so intent on saving that party.

I wish she could give a consistent intellectual/ideological explanation for why Republicanism is still the answer to society's ills but I think it boils down to the fact that it's her family's party. And there's nothing wrong with that, per se, but it's dishonest for her to not be upfront about that.

I like her stances on some things, but I want to hear her give a reasoned explanation for her pro-life stance. Is she pro-life or is she anti-choice? I mean, I'm not running around in an "abortions are #1!", but I think they need to remain safe, legal, and accessible. I don't like a lot of things that I think should remain legal. Is that essentially her stance and she's sticking with "pro-life" so she appeals to more republicans?

you can't really say that the democrats are doing everything for gay marriage issue.
