I find Laura very likable, it's just unfortunate that she is involved with this mess. She seems to be a good mom (underage drinking? At U of T? Give me a break, media. Cannot believe that shocked as many people as it did, what do you think happens at college? Bridge?) and I've heard nothing but positive things regarding her and Michelle Obama, especially with helping the girls.
If anything, she did the only thing she could do in this situation, support her family as much as you can behind closed doors--could you imagine what it must be like to have so many people hate you? No one's shoes that I would like to be in.

Also remember that she has Barbara Bush as a MIL and I can't imagine you ever go through a day without knowing what Miss Barbara thinks about everything.

Is it January yet?

Sorry, I'm sure she's a lovely lady, but I'm done with all things Bush.

Although I tend to feel sorry for women of Laura's generation who bought the wife-and-mother thing hook, line and sinker. It wasn't as obvious to them that there was any other way to be back when they were coming up.

And, I meant "Cheney" in my previous comment. I wish there was an edit button on this thing.

And Bush, a distinct and separate person, seems like an asshat.
Until I meet them though, I cannot form a true and accurate opinion.
The media has time and time again, filtered or muddied what they report (both Fox and MSNBC). That is no way to base a solid opinion of a person.
But still, if Laura invited me over for Tea and Bridge, I would not turn her down (I would however, have to learn to play Bridge).

I couldn't even IMAGINE meeting a world leader, foreign dignitary, relative of, or whathaveyou, let alone a family member meeting them. That's amazing.
But, I would not turn the chance down, I agree with your grandmother - it is a bid deal.

You're right it is a big deal. I just tend to say the first thing that comes to mind and I get the sinking feeling that in front of Bushie, it would not be pleasant. I get it from my grandmother, who most likely rehearsed her line several times so that a) she got it just right and b) so nothing bad came out of her mouth. She has a photograph of the meeting too. She makes sure that its always balanaced by something Democratic and liberal.
