    This reminds me of how my sister is in Peru (where it is, obviously, summer) and I hate her because she only left last Saturday but has managed to miss THREE snowstorms (so far) in 5 days, and will totally avoid this sub-zero crap. Lucky!

    @TheUptightMidwesterner considers North Face and Sorel high ...: It must be asked: With whom do you work, and in what capacity? Spitting? Sidewalk? (Not that I wouldn't do that. In fact, I actually thought to myself: I should try that! But I'm inside in front of a space heater, so, no).


    And then it must be said: I feel some of your pain (in Chicago, it is also sub-zero) but only some of it (not AS sub-zero) and much as I would like to try to make you feel better, I can only think how happy I am that I'm not where you are. My apologies.

    @AuntieEm - check out cafepress.com/121608: Everyone in DC is freaking out because of "extremely frigid" temperatures. It was a high of 28 today, will be 20 tomorrow, and 33 on Saturday. I moved here last year from Chicago, and am still wearing my "spring" lighter wool coat, and only dug my hat out this morning from storage.
