Also in "I wanna give that man sexy time for bringing the smack down", CNN's Sanchez follows up on "you know who" anti-semite associations the neocon didn't want to name, and brings the smackdown on another neocon:
Ten movies streaming across that, that Internet, and what happens to your own personal Internet? I just the other day got... an Internet was sent by my staff at 10 o'clock in the morning on Friday. I got it yesterday [Tuesday]. Why? Why? Because it got tangled up with all these things going on the Internet commercially.
[...] They want to deliver vast amounts of information over the Internet. And again, the Internet is not something that you just dump something on. It's not a big truck. It's a series of tubes. And if you don't understand, those tubes can be filled and if they are filled, when you put your message in, it gets in line and it's going to be delayed by anyone that puts into that tube enormous amounts of material, enormous amounts of material.
She thinks leaders should have the freedom to "ask questions without fear of attacks by the mainstream media." Um, like dictators in countries with state-run media?
I'm starting to think she's not stupid. She doesn't think that's what the Constitution says, she just thinks the Constitution is wrong.
It gives me cold chills to read Palin's bizarre take on the First Amendment. It's like she's never even read the Constitution. She should have memorized the Bill of Rights in sixth grade social studies like the rest of us.
The First Amendment says that the government cannot abridge your right to free speech. It does not require the media, the blog administrator, or anyone else to allow you to say any of the crazy shit you want. It only. Applies. To the GOVERNMENT.
Did anyone ask if she'd ever even read the constitution before they set her up for this? Because I hate to be all nerdy lawyer "Ooh, she doesn't even know her First Amendment..." but um, she doesn't even know her First Amendment!
@theysaidwhat: While she definitely misrepresented the role of the VP, I do not like the massive attacks that say the role is only what the Constitution says. LBJ made some great strides for civil rights as VP. Because he had connections with senators and representatives and could bend their arms and make them do what he wanted. Cheney is the opposite end of the spectrum- no diplomacy but just brutal force- raping the constitution.
@Dizzy8: I love it when people on boards (not this one, yay) protest when they're warned or shouted down with "Whatever happened to freedom of speech???" Um, yeah, last time I checked Television Without Pity was not a state actor.
Though my absolute favorite is "I thought this was America!" I heard that THREE times in one day when I did phone intake for the ACLU. And not one was even remotely a civil rights violation.
God I fucking hate Republicans so bad. At least the stupid, selfish, lying, manipulative, evil subset of them that have taken over the party. I used to believe there were some Republicans who just wanted small government and didn't necessarily want to turn America into a fucking facist dictatorship, but after this election season, I don't know what to think anymore.
If anything, these assholes turn me away from accepting ANY of their party's ideas, even if I might have agreed with them on anything before. I'm finding it hard to respectfully listen to any of my friends that are voting for McCain. Don't they realize they're alienating people?? Up until this election, I'm registered Independent and I've actually researched both sides. I've even voted for a few Repubs for local and state offices. Never again, at least not for a long time.
Until they got some of these batshit-crazy subhumans off the ticket, I'm registering Democrat and I won't vote for a single Republican.
@Blue_State_Babe: The same thing happened to me. I started wanting to be an old-line Repub right around when the religious wingnuts took over the party. I'm unaffiliated, but I'm sure as hell voting Dem this election. The last eight years have shown government fiscal irresponsibility the likes of which no Dem has ever, ever been guilty. And killed a few thousand Americans to boot! WTF.
@Blue_State_Babe: Well I am a registered republican and though I am voting for Obama and a few other democrats in some local races I am also voting for some republicans also. I look at the person and what it is they stand for and also their record and that is what becomes my deciding factor in voting for them.
Honestly had this been several years ago I would have voted for McCain as the person he was then is completely different than the one I see now. Also the person he has chosen as his running mate scares the living hell out of me and there is no way that I hope to ever see her become president.
@mulva: Alone, waiting for fiance.not.palin so we can watch I Love You To Death (huzzah, Netflix!) and I can keep procrastinating on my midterm lit paper. I ate my weight in chocolate earlier today, so no trick-or-treating here.
@mulva: Home with the husband; we finished the candy obligation and put the kid to bed, and we're having sub sandwiches, soon to be followed by leftover candy. I don't need anything more!
@mulva: I'm going through a couple of bottles while dressed as Alice in Wonderland. We're actually getting an unusual number of kids this year, due to the warm weather, so hopefully none of them are traumatized by an inebriated Alice stumbling to the door do candify them. I figure my increasing generosity as I get drunker (more drunk?) will make up for any such disturbances.
@mulva: We don't get any kids that come out to where we live so after the daughter left with the grand baby. Hubby and I took our other son and daughter out for dinner a Chinese dinner where I enjoyed some saki.
Have now came home and cuddled up with a latte and wanted to see what you wonderful ladies have gotten into this afternoon/evening.

Got some news for that boy. I'm white and I'm one of "those other folks" that will be voting, since I'm presumably not your brand of white.
What is that teeny sound I hear? Could it be a republican brain exploding? Mission accomplished.
