I'm so shaken by the news about Daul. I can't even put words together. Her blog was fantastic; she was such a ray of light. My heart goes out to her family and loved ones.
Do you think Helena is covering her eye on the i-D cover because she can't wink? I can't wink, and I get teased about it all the time; it'd be great to know which celebrity can bring the cause to a wider audience...
@suiterkin: You might be right. Or maybe she realized that winking in photographs end up looking kind of dumb and found a way out. The other two just look kind of drunk/stoned.
@lavenderstain: I wish she could have held on. Everything changes, what is terrible at 20 will be a distant memory at 21. I hope her family finds peace. Two words: Support Groups. They are a God-send.
I see the point, but I'm curious how exaggerated the Vargas girls were in comparison to their contemporaries' average measurements. It seems like that were sort of going for here. #marisamiller
@rixatrix: Yes - this is very obviously what they are going for and the image is meant to look extremely fake. It's odd to pretend that they aren't going for hyper-reality in this campaign. It's supposed to scream "false." #marisamiller
@allyzay: I wonder if it wouldn't be so visually jarring if she were in a more traditional "cheesecake" pose - it might be more obvious what they were trying to accomplish. #marisamiller
We imagine female members of the armed services would be among the many upon whom the charm of such a campaign is lost.
Yes, thank you for articulating why I hate this campaign. For the campaign to be successful, you have to assume that everybody in the military is a straight man and all women were just waiting at home (in sexy clothes) for the men to return. Believe it or not, there are WWII veterans who also happen to be women.
A few things:
-That belted beige leotard was an actual item of clothing used in this shoot.
-She has one of the smallest waists and ribcages I've ever seen, so while there may have been some photoshopping, I don't think they overdid it. I literally had my mouth open in shock every time I saw her. #marisamiller

I've met Marisa Miller. Her waist and ribcage aren't that tiny. And that's no slur on her: Nobody's is. #marisamiller
