Kate Moss For TopShop Sells Out In Fifteen Minutes

    • Kate Moss' line for TopShop sells out in 15 minutes! "Crowds of young women, who started queuing at 7.45am, scooped up the must have designer gear without even trying it on. " [Daily Mail]
    • Rachel Weisz on method acting:"We were talking about the character of Penelope when I suddenly ran upstairs and brought down these old boots. They’re basically a cross between a clown boot and a Victorian lace-up boot....They suit Penelope because they don’t go with anything, they’re really clumpy and they gave me a funny walk. The character came entirely out of those boots — I wear them in every single scene!" If shleppy shoes equal verite, color me Stella Adler! [ElleUK]

The Hand-On-Hip Pose: An Anthropological Study

The other day I noticed that I can no longer pose for a picture without putting my hand on my hip. I blame this on the unending stream of events photos I look at as part of my job. I was staring at this picture of Rashida Jones today when it dawned on me: this pose is ridiculous. It's supposed to make you look thinner, but really it makes everyone look like a little teapot! Then I started wondering when this pose became so pervasive. Luckily, the official Oscar website has an archive of red carpet photos from the past five years. By perusing it, I have discovered precisely when our world's mega-stars insisted on posing with their hands firmly placed on their hips, bony elbows jutting out at 45 degree angles. Photographic evidence, after the jump. More »

Marion Cotillard: 911 Is A Joke

    • Oscar winner Marion Cotillard has conspiracy theories! She questions the attack on the World Trade Center towers: "We see other towers of the same kind being hit by planes. There was a tower, I believe it was in Spain, which burned for 24 hours. It never collapsed. None of these towers collapsed. And there (in New York), in a few minutes, the whole thing collapsed." Plus! She doubts Neil Armstrong! "Did a man really walk on the moon? I saw plenty of documentaries on it, and I really wondered," she says. "I don't believe all they tell me, that's for sure." [Variety]

"Fishy" Is Fabulous: Oscar Fashion 2008

Thank God for Oscar fashion because the awards themselves dragged... on... forever. And on last night's red carpet? Lots of, well, red. Heidi Klum, Miley Cyrus, Katherine Heigl, Anne Hathaway, Ruby Dee, and Helen Mirren were just some of the women who matched their gowns to the carpet they were posing on. But the absolute best looks were seen on the women who opted for something a little less traditional: Like Marion Cotillard's fish-scale mermaid gown by Jean-Paul Gaultier. Cotillard looked radiant, palpitating with natural beauty and joie de vivre. Also gorgeous? Cate Blanchett, pregnant in purple Dries Van Noten, and Amy Adams, sultry in deep green Proenza Schouler. Those who swung and missed? Diablo Cody, Cameron Diaz and Renee Zellweger. And Lord have mercy on Sarah "I'm Dating George Clooney" Lawson: Her ugly-ass table-cloth dress was the worst of the worst in my book. You can take the girl out of Fear Factor, but you can't take the Fear Factor out of the girl. Photo galleries of the Good, Bad, and Ugly of Oscar style, after the jump. More »
