I just kinda love that they used a moddle of color to represent an "all-American" fashion story. Not terribly original styling, but... pretty!

@jessie-belle: I agree! It's like they woke up and realized that "all-American" doesn't mean "all-WASPy blondes." I has a happy.

@Skellatrix: I should say doesn't necessarily mean "all-WASPy blondes", or automatically mean... All-WASPy blondes, you're American, too!

The picture in the barn where she's climbing up to the hay loft is stunning, I will give them that. The rest? snore.

I was in a RL store this weekend and I just wasn't impressed. His entire livelyhood still seems to depend on those polo shirts with the little logo. There were racks and racks of them.

Perhaps it's just the frame of mind I am in today, but $3000 for jeans, a striped button up and a suede shirt? I understand all of the resources that go into creating an item of clothing. I get that specific pieces are hand crafted and made with the best materials. I know that certain pieces from certain designers are made in limited qualities with extremely unique fabrics and those pieces are going to be very expensive because buying one is like buying a piece of art. I just can not understand how, with the current state of the nation, that a magazine, not even a high fashion magazine, would think that a spread with $400 dollar striped button down shirts would be appropriate. It's like they are mocking me.

I hate hyperbole but this kind of blatant and unapologetic excess really does seem like not just tasteless but almost cruel.

I don't want to say journalists have no standards anymore but...it's a lot easier to say, "No we can't piss off the advertisers or you won't have a job!" in this economy. I hate to say it, but if you lose Ralph Lauren, some assistant might have to get fired.

God I feel dirty. Gonna take a cold shower now. Sponsored by the bold look of Kohler.

oh wow. Ralph Lauren must have booked a shitload of ads for future editions or be sponsoring some kind of Marie Claire do. But even so. But running it without an 'advertorial' slug is unprecedented, as far as I know. Yet another indication of the death of civilization as we know it. Or at least journalistic standards.

You and Ralph copied your idea from Rafa and Lanvin but I think I can be persuaded that that is okay.

Ok, point taken but... such pretty moddles. Sigh.

Does this remind anyone else of the farm animal shoot on this past season of Make me a Supermodel? Does anyone else even watch that show?
